I'm not convinced it is. Personally, having off-line maps with Nokia is a huge plus. Still, glad to see these flagship phones haven't been given a silly price (well compared to other phones).

I may go for this if Lumia 920 is costlier

I thought Nokia Maps were going to be on all Windows 8 Phones regardless of make?

Nokia seems to be better with all the application support and accessories like wireless charging stands, charger speakers, unique touch sensitivity and there is pureview camera. I will wait for the reviews of the both phone's screen and camera.
But I don't think there will be huge difference, if htc 8x is considerably cheaper, I can go for it.

Staggeringly stupid of Nokia.

The only reason I've been considering getting a Nokia again and they give it away for free.

Weirdly, a quick google showed a Nokia executive boasting about how clever they were to do this. Guess they really don't want to sell any phones.

They would have been pressured by Microsoft to give it to other manufacturers. Navigation being free for Android and IOS it seems to be logical from microsoft's point of view.

HTC 8X will be about £100 cheaper, and will match the Lumia 920 in many areas. While losing out on camera quality, storage space and wireless charging, its camera is still excellent, and it makes up for it with the highest PPI (pixels per inch) of any top phone at 342 compared with the Lumia's 332 I think. Also, for me, 4.3" is the more desirable screen size, and the HTC 8X is considerably lighter and slightly thinner I believe. Obviously, personal preference will come into play, but both phones look lovely. It's worth remembering that wireless charging comes at a cost. At the moment, I am thinking HTC 8X because I do like HTC and want them to keep making great Windows Phones.

Good price, but 16 GB with no room for expansion leaves it feeling needlessly restricted.

agree :)

isn't the phone looks like a Lumia 900???
#17
I want to get the 920 but Im not sure about the size. I remember when the Galaxy Nexus came out, I thought that was too big and I thin the 920 is about the same size. I prefer the size of this phone though but the Nokia has all the features that I want. Use the screen with your gloves on in winder, the anti shake thing etc. I'm also tempted to get an iphone 5 but I do dislike Apple and their restrictions and that you have to pay for everything.

Its a shame w8 taking so long to come to the market.

Very interested what the contract prices for this and the Lumia 920 will be now.

I would get the 920 if it's a similar price, it has induction (wireless) charging, a better screen (I would point out at this point that once you get past 300PPI the figure is irrelevant and it's actually colour saturation, contrast and blacks that make a screen, which is immense on the Lumia) and the PureView image sensor which is immense. Takes way better video and picture than any other smartphone. Oh and it should have a micro-sd slot too :D.

Having said all of this, I've had 3 HTC windows phones and they were all amazing so this would definitely be my second choice behind having my third Lumia :D.

I would go for hot as not an iPhone 5. Barely update a phone and increase the price, that's the apple way!

I didn't realise how much I fancied a nice brightly coloured phone until I started looking at the new windows phones.

Link please, I'm not seeing it.

As for on the rest of wp8 phones they've made it available to other oems, but seen no mention that it's free and no mention that htc have taken it up as yet.

Only in specific circumstances, 808 has it beat in many. And it doesn't have micro sd slot, I'll agree it should but it doesn't. The 820 does....

If size is an issue then the lumia 820 is obv. the solution. It's the one I'm waiting for.

Just a pity there is no cyan option for the Lumia 920 on launch :(

More boring tiles and more windows phones that look the same.Think iphone 5 has taken all wps sales. No surprise there:-)Wait a month and itll be £99 or a on a £3 a month contract to try and shift them.Cant wait for an all out attack from the wp fanboys.Ready steady Go

I don't know why, but I want windows phone to win so bad, maybe because I hate the Apple bandwagon and all it's pompous restrictive fascist ways, and I find that even though I like Android it always seems a bit dirty and bitty to me. Get windows phone to bump up its app supply and I think I might give it a go, I'll be holding out for a mammoth screened one though, can't go back to piddly 4 inchers after my galaxy note's beauty of a screen!

these new prices seem very good value for what you get, I'd personally go for a lumia especially if it's priced around the £400 mark.

Oh and they'd need Swype, possibly the best invention for a mobile anywhere, ever, the end!
#27
Voted cold because just like the HTC WP8S its not in the wild and there's no pricing benchmark for this phone. On release this could be the most expensive for all we know.

Looking toward to WP8's release but these can't be classed as deals just yet.

My next phone will be WP8, buy I think I'll plump for the Samsung offering, 4.8" screen and expandable memory. Although the camera on the Nokia is supposed to be something special ...

The Nokia camera just edges it for me. Hopefully we won't see a price too far off the HTC (personally , I think the £400 mark is about right for both phones)

"Pressure" = "Get paid".

I would still get the Nokia over this. I would much rather pay £2-30 extra to have a virtually indestructible phone over "beats audio".

Everyone should want WP to do well. Otherwise Android and iOS will just remain polar opposites and wont innovate.

After having iPhone since day one and progressing through iPhone 1,3G,4 & 4S as well as having a Nexus7 tablet I have decided to go for a WP8 after growing bored of IOS , it's looking like being between this and the Nokia Lumia 920 :)
#33
Considering the farce surrounding mapping on IOS 6, HTC's less than exemplary build quality and Microsofts record on releasing buggy code, I wouldn't be pre ordering a mobile that no one outside M$ / HTC has held or used. I would want to read some trusted reviews and hold it myself before committing to buy.

Too bad theres not enough 15year old kids to push windows phones sales up. In US price for Lumia already dropping cuz nobody wants such a fine colourfull mobile to match hi-vis jackets. If you older than 19 stay with iphone or sgs2 or 3... ;P
#37
You know u can save maps for offline on google maps ?
#38
So is this a deal then? Is it reduced from RRP? oO

Only for a limited area, you can't download full countries/regions in one go.

Judging by your comments and total lack of mobile phone knowledge id put you in the 15yr old kid bracket then, which wp8 phone you going for then ;)
