Description / Product Story:

Heroes aren't Born. They're Built.

For both comic book fans and those who can't tell the Green Lantern from the Green Arrow, Iron Man is the type of summer blockbuster whose appeal lasts far beyond the season. Robert Downey Jr. stars as Tony Stark, a billionaire playboy and genius who puts as much effort into chasing skirts as he puts into chasing his next big idea. A trip to Afghanistan to sell weapons quickly devolves into chaos, and Stark finds himself at the mercy of a warlord who wants him to build a missile. Instead, Stark creates a powerful suit of armor, turning him into Iron Man and allowing him to escape. When he returns to America, his assistant Pepper Pots (Gwyneth Paltrow), friend Rhodey (Terrence Howard), and right-hand man Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges) all marvel at the change in the man they knew. Iron Man is the first film to be self-financed by Marvel Studios, and they should be proud of their freshman effort. They didn't take any obvious routes with choosing the cast or crew, and it pays off. Director Jon Favreau, who also has a small role in the film, is best known for directing ELF, but his first action-driven effort is nearly flawless. Casting Downey was gutsy but inspired: this is his first big action picture as well, but the wit he displays in films such as the cult hit Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang works perfectly for the character of Stark. Iron Man features nods to its beloved source material, as well as to the classic animated series of the 1960s. But even for the uninitiated, this film provides an interesting entry into the Marvel superhero's universe. Audiences who keep watching after the credits have rolled will be rewarded with a bonus scene.

Why is it a 2disc film, I thought these discs could hold lots of data or film, even at 1080p????
#3
man this is a huge waste of time just as all Blu-rays that are priced over 9.99 to buy. The film has no re watch value anyway so it would have been best to watch it at the cinema for 10 quid - full experience. Blu-rays are a huge rip off and I can't understand why people are prepared to pay so much for them.

sorry people this gets the cold shoulder..

Well they have put the film on disc 1 and most of the extras on disc 2.

The film is over 2 hours long, so 50GB is about right for a 2 hour+ High Defintion film.

Most new films seem to be on 50GB discs, although they have tested 400GB disc for the future .

This is Hot UK Deals, not Hot UK Opinions.

You should be voting on the price for the product, can you get it cheaper by the USA release date...?

Not interested if you like the film or if you like Blu ray as that is irrelevant to this site.

Great film, RIDICULOUSLY priced.
#7
Standard price though. Not a bargain.

Ill be getting this, but the UK version will probably be cheaper at the hut or somewhere.

btw Hancock is £15.99 at amazon.
#8
sorry to say that-but what is the deal if it is sold everywhere pretty much the same price for? :?

Movietyme are always a little on the pricey side and it used to be that they would be able to get discs before they even hit the shelves in the US and because of that I used to give them more of my hard earned. But the last few times I've ordered from them this hasn't been the case and discs have been coming no sooner than if I had ordered from a US or Canadian supplier. Having said that this price does seem to be slightly better than the other online retailers in the US thrown up by dvdpricecheck.co.uk. (though I'm certain that there will be some that can beat this price).

You get it 4 weeks before it is released in the UK, who will be selling it at the same price, so what is Hot is you get it early.

I presume it doesn't arrive instantly from the US though... so although its released 4 weeks earlier, but I doubt you'll actually receive it 4 weeks earlier...

Well actually proably more than 4 weeks sooner :w00t:

The likes of Movietyme and AxelMusic ship big titles very early (unlike UK retailers who send out a couple of days in advance for you to recoeve on release day), the US Transformers Blu-ray is not officially released until 2 Sept, but I recieved mine over a week ago

over a week, that's not bad though

The retailer gets them really early, then they judge when to ship items so you get them on or before the official release date.

So if it will take 10 days to arrive then they ship it 10 days early so you get it on the official release date, UK retailers do the same for games and DVD's as well. ;-)
