Heat from me for this offer, although I believe it'll get cheaper next year (after SP1) and you won't have to deal with the teething problems.

Is the one on the link also £9 for a cd? Think this offer is awesome.

More people can qualify for this offer than the other one, as it isn't restricted to .ac.uk email addresses, it works for anyone at school or parents of children at school as well.

Hot indeed!
#13
once again students with valid .ac.uk email address, however at www.theultimatesteal.co.uk its £5.00 cheaper at only £30.00. Office Ultimate only £38.95 too!
#14
"This version of Windows 7 ships as an upgrade edition. It is NOT possible or permitted to perform a clean install with this product. You must have an existing valid Windows operating system on your hard disk. " . . . . .shame :(

I got Windows 7 this weekend on the DELL £177 deal posted on here about a week ago . Got to say its really good and I have been telling mates to stop being paranoid and upgrade from XP . This is a great deal and as most of my mates have kids I will telll them about this (half of them probably using dodgy pirated windows XP though ! )
#19
If you're actually a student with valid .ac.uk address you can get it for £30 here.

They email you a CD-key immediately, and provide a link to download the install DVD too.
I paid £9 extra for a hard copy of the DVD, ordered Saturday evening and it arrived today!

Also, Software4Students are a verified Microsoft partner, on the above Microsoft link if you click No to having a .ac.uk address it gives you the option to buy from Software4Students.

I have bought off of this company, totally genuine and no problems at all with them.

Bought Office 2007 from them - no problems.
#22
Ordered my copy at the weekend - this is over half the price Microsoft are selling the Standard edition for directly on their site! All you need to have is a family member in education to qualify. Way to go Little Sister!!!

Hot, hot, hot!

Microsoft added an annoying nag at boot, nag on the taskbar, and shut down message telling users of the original pirated XP that their copy was illegal and offering a means of buying a proper license. There was a way around this with a keygen and a little time.

It says this on the RM deal but not on the software4students (although some users said it did used to say this but has since changed).

Windows 7 sucks, Stick to ur current os till is stable! I already had it blue screen at boot! And it won't self fix or restore or fix from cd. Windows 7 still only be gd if you make the task bar small, and if Microsoft get off there ass and fix the problems with it.
#32
Brill deal. My kids are at school and so no .ac address. I have purchased office 2007 from them earlier this year no problem , will not hesitate to buy this from them.....

Just purchased for what it's worth actual cost on check out £36.95 ! Still good deal !

Does a cousin count as someone in education?

have been telling mates to stop being paranoid and upgrade from XP .

"paranoid" in what way?

If it's not broken, there's no point in 'fixing' it - unless you're the kind of person who has to have the latest thing that some company has pointlessly put out with the sole purpose of removing cash from your pockets of course...
#35
Just to note if you're at university and enrolled in a computer-related course (e.g. Electronics, Computer Science, etc.) you might get a free copy through the MSDNAA. Hot deal otherwise!

If you take that approach why not use windows 3.11 or 98 then! Or if the money is the issue Ubuntu linux is free and it's great, especially for the price!
#37
Are there any similar deals for people who work in schools?
#38
Superb!!!!
#39

When you register a Teacher option comes up aswell as parent/studen/guardian. Might be worth a try?
