Pre- Order *New Look* Alien Anthology Blu ray only £13.99 @ Amazon
A Pre-order for Jan 16th 2012 for this new version, This is probably a Budget version only states 4 discs. I'm unable to see this being advertised anywhere else but at Amazon.

If this is slim line cases i've measured up with slimline cases i have for HMV X-Men box set and it measures up nearly half the size of the current release but unsure whether it is going to be slimline ....

You never know, they may have remastered some things hopefully, and in that case i wouldn't care about the cases, just better quality :)

Unless there are multiple versions of the Blu-Ray anthology, it's already about as slim as it could get - the version that I've seen is no thicker than 2 regular Blu-Ray cases, possibly more like 1.5.
I know it's just stock art, but on the pictures on Amazon you can see there are two 18 certificates side-by-side on the spine, so it doesn't look that thin.

The general consensus on the current Alien Anthology Blu-Rays is that they are excellent transfers and the films have never looked better, and in fact they're some of the best Blu-Ray releases of any films ever, so it doesn't sound as though there's much room for improvement, but of course they're welcome to try! I think chances are they will be the same transfers, so it just looks like another boxset without the bonus disks. Personally I think everyone should be willing to pay the extra £1 to get the special features, as these are definitely films you want to see behind the scenes of! And I also think the artwork on the current boxset is better - while the new art looks cool, Xenomorphs are more suited to dark backgrounds, and the blue/white is too reminiscent of the AvP films for my taste.
Still, a hot deal for being the best price on this boxset, and it will be interesting to hear more details about it to see if there is anything different...
