The new PSP Go system is a sleek and lightweight system that is more than 50 percent smaller and more than 40 percent lighter than the original PSP system that launched in 2005. The sophisticated and stylish design incorporates a sliding 3.8-inch display screen, delivering the same high resolution and vibrant visuals as the current PSP-3000 model.
Leveraging PlayStation Network and digital content exclusively, PSP go system features 16GB of internal memory as well as expandable storage via Memory Stick Micro (M2) to store plenty of games, videos, photos, and music. The PSP go system is designed for the digital lifestyle, offering on-demand entertainment to consumers who want to download content directly to their device anytime, anywhere* over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

I want one...but the price is crazy....I have PS3 and PSP, why get a go at this price ....

It is somewhat expensive, however there were rumours that Sony was going to provide a trade-in service for games. This where you would get electronic versions of the the game discs you have.
But still it is pricy and suspect the price will drop after Christmas. Perhaps Sony are not aware of the global recession !!!!

as above. the price needs to drop by £50 atleast, although the uk price hasnt been released yet this is just a guess by amazon amongst other.

the current exchange rate means it'll be around £155 in the US! i'm just hoping that it'll be region free again as i'm in florida for the release! :)

A Sony executive has already allegedly stated that it's being sold at this price because that's the most money they can expect to charge for it and still sell.

Oh why can't Sony just put the analogue nub in a suitable place for us with big hands?! I never play on my psp for this reason!

Stupid price. Stupid Sony! They obviously haven't learnt from the PS3 launch pricing.

Sony have said they don't think the UK is price sensitive, so they will continue to price their products highly here in the hope of building a premium price-premium product image, much like BMW.

No-one should buy this at £200+. This will send a message to Sony and they will then hopefully drop the price soon. Until then I will stick with my Nintendo and MS products and let those companies have the revenue from all my game purchases.

Idiots!

The other thing about this is that even with the high price point, you are surely then going to have to buy games at full price from the sony download service. I see someone mentioned about trade in games for downloads but i cant see that happening logistically. Going to end up being very expensive as there will be no second hand games. Going to america next year so i will probably just pick one up there.

there hasnt even been a uk price announcement yet, there is a scee press conference at games con on the 18th august so expect to see a price there

i've not bought a psp game off the psn yet as they are WAY overpriced! resistance £24.99 (£17.81 asda) brothers in arms £15.99 (£7.99 play) medal of honor heroes 2 £14.99 (£9.71 the hut)

IMHO £14.99 for a new release & £9.99 max for old (pre pspgo) games would be better

if that price is at all accurate then this yet another reason to hate Sony as far as I'm concerned.
how much longer are people gonna put up with them shamelessly ripping off consumers before they all stop buying sony. like I did years ago :x

yeah, good call
I can't play any modern hand helds for any length of time.
my NDS lite gives me cramps after like 20 mins or something :(

Are Sony absolutely bonkers?

No UMD drive! So lets get this straight.
1) Any back catalogue or games or movies you have on UMD will be useless. Any possible exchange programme (UMD - Electronic version) will almost certain cost you the user (paying again to use your own stuff).
2) As all content for the PSPGO will have to be stored digitally. The 16GB internal memory will be filled very easily. So what next buying more memory cards. No doubt using Sonys expensive Duo Stick cards will be the only option. Can't see them putting an SD slot in it!
3) If Sony allow you to transfer and store your movie and game files on your PC, surely everyone will just pass the files round. Piracy will go through the roof. Unless Sony have worked out a way round this. If this is the case then see 2).

It is CHEAPER!!! to make then the current PSP so they must think we are stupid or something.

even if it was at £99 which is what the current PSP can be bought for the direction taken and the ugly design turn me away.

They are also keeping those software prices very quiet, my guess is £30 games so really the only benifit of this system is to Sony.
#13
As mentioned already by nearly every poster lol i have to agree there way overpriced its a PSP still minus a UMD drive and given a very small 16GB drive which tbh is no size when get a few games on and maybe a video or two if your lucky.
a extra analogue stick still missing and then your going be stuck with full priced PSN games with no chance of a later trade in if you dont like the game or stop playing it doesn't make good sense to me

On the plus side i like the actual design of them

One huge problem with the design. All I'm gonna say is sliders = wobblers. Anyone who's ever owned a sliding mobile phone for more than a year will know what I mean.

was hoping they would be cheaper then may drop value of S/H psp,s when they all sell them to get new one looks like i have long wait lol

Wow, what's with all the gaming noobs hating on Sony???

The PSP came out at the same price and it dropped to what it is now. The PSP is LIGHT YEARS ahead of the DS in terms of build quality and the quality of the games. Seriously, you couldn't even see anything like Crisis Core on the DS, so stop moaning.

I admit, at the RRP i wont buy one, but when it hits the £170-£200 mark i probably will.

You'll be waiting a long time! I've got a PSP S&L 2003 and a pile of games and UMDs for sale though. :whistling:

There is no way that i would ever buy at this price!! It is typical of Sony to put the price so high, surely the PS3 price debacle would of told them something.

I don't have as much of an issue with the initial price and I'm certainly not a Sony hater. I own two PSPs and a PS2. My objection is the lack of UMD slot and the issues that will raise. See my other post. Oh and I find sliders to be a bad design for phones, PDA and anything else using them.

Enough muppets will pay and that's all manufacturers care about. Then they'll drop the price and make another wave of sales to everyone else.

Er .... The DS and PSP are aimed at different markets. Nintendo have made their device desirable and playable to anyone from 3 to 93 whereas Sony have the PSP aimed at yoofs who is down in da hood. Init. Wicked!

Crisis Core on a DS? That's not what the DS is about. Nintendo have created a device (just as they have with the Wii) that allows all ages and generations to enjoy video gaming together - the PSP is very much a 'play on your own' device. Which is why Nintendo are winning the sales war hands down and Sony are have to resort to stupidly high prices to try and make money.
#22
I can't see how Sony can justify this price tag. You can get the 360 Elite for a tenner less in a lot of shops and that's a lot more bang for your buck (ok, its not portable). Your even approaching PS3 price territory which is frightening for a portable gaming device.

As for gooddeals9 stating that the PSP is light years ahead - of course it is and look at what you pay for it! Nintendo understand that a portable device needn't be the most technologically advanced machine ever and as a result have sold boat loads more of the DS compared to Sony with the PSP.

Expensive :w00t:

Is this the coldest thread on HUKD? I've never seen a deal this cold before
#25
what is so different about this psp that warrants doubling the price is 16 gb really that expensive? what iam saying is they are flogging old technology in a new case. please avoid like the plague.
#26
Sony puts another nail in its own coffin with its 'premium pricing', I dont mind buying the odd game for a fiver off Xbox live/ PSN but I wont be purchasing all my games online at whatever price Sony decides to rip us off at, if Sony sell these in any significant numbers Ill show my ****
