#4
Good find and sorry to be a pooper here but as these things are aimed at kids mostly i saw something on the tv about how dangerous 3D was to young kids vision.
#5

I find it strange that Tesco haven't even acknowledged the 3DS on their site yet. They were my first choice.

so more expensive than the 360 and same price as a ps3......wow this must be a nifty little system

Just that price because of the actual release, can guarantee it too drop a few months down the line

dont know why they are advertising it as 30 quid off rrp-there is NO rrp for this in europe-nintendo have left pricing up to the retailers.

Unless you pop your 360/PS3 + display + battery/generator in your pocket and pull them out to play when out and about, thats an odd comparison :D

thing is,nobody knows do they m8? impossible to display the 3d effect on an advert so the only way to see it is to actually go instore when there are display models. if it can actually display DECENT 3d images without glasses, then I think it IS worth 200 quid. Just my opinion tho.

Waiting for a flash card as i wont buy a region locked handheld otherwise, i play too many games that were never released in the UK on my old DS.

im comparing the price not the portability of the system. they are all gaming systems. just because its portable doesnt mean people only play it on the move

Since the DS had virtually no decent games and was designed around taking money from middle aged technologically challenged parents, this is just another pointless addition to the world of portable gaming.

It will still sell no doubt, but im doubtful about the numbers with such a high price point. I mean, you can buy an ipod touch for a lot less, the games cost a lot less (and are usually of a much higher quality than most DS games), and are graphically superior, probably even more so when the iPhone 5 gets a new gfx chip.

You do not need to pay upfront. You have a choice whether to pay now or pay on despatch.

Nintendo's statement was to cover themselves. It's just like staring to long at the TV and not having or break or wearing 3D glasses for too long. Or not using a mobile phones too long because of the radio waves could affect your hearing or brain function.

It is said that scientists do not think that "3D" will cause kids any issues, in the latest update of this topic.

Lastly, I've pre-ordered the black version. Hope closer to the time they mention a Zelda Bundle that falls just under the price of buying the 3DS at this price and the game seperately.

what do you call a big mark up, if they are selling for £230 thats a fairly small mark-up compared to a lot of things you buy, how do you think shops do 50% off sales without making a loss

Considering the way games consoles normally work (i.e they lose money on the hardware and make it all back on the software), thats a pretty significant mark up. You can't compare games console hardware to any old "50% off sale"

The original DS has a crazy ammount of awesome games, graphics mean next to nothing and iphone games are not even games, just small little apps with no gameplay.

actually just checked argos deal... not as good as this

Nintendo have always made a profit with their hardware
And your wrong i can compare the mark-up to what every i like as it just an item for sell like anything else

They make (according to Forbes) $6 on each Wii they sell, so compared to that this is still expensive.

And how much do forbes(who are guessing what nintendo make) say the retailers are making on a wii?

US launch, it was sold to retail at $237.50, and to consumers at $249
#32
still £50 too much, for £200 I can get a proper console. I won't fall for this 3d gubbins.

Don't forget 20% VAT on top of that.

That's how much Nintendo make - retailers make more.

That may be so, putting the price approx. £208, but then why would Shopto take a loss on these? Yeah people visit the site, but it can't be worth that much...
#39
£200+ for this handheld? rofl, not a chance. I would prefer to wait and go for the psp2 when that comes along.

I very much doubt that the price of these to retailers is this much, epecially as the buy in bulk price will be a lot less overall - best probably to wait for the first batch that will likley have some form of fault (like these first releases often do), then get one when supermarkets go for a price war on them or when morrisons do them for a stupidly low price which can only be found in a few stores in the country lol
