I noticed earlier on today that a deal had been posted for a pre-order of the Nintendo 3DS from Tesco Entertainment, and while browsing Amazon today I noticed that they seem to have dropped their price as well!

I hope this is helpful for people who would be more comfortable in buying from Amazon (though both deals are great!)

No code required and a nice pre-order price guarantee.

Enjoy!

This is Amazon not tesco! So not already posted! Voted hot!

Quidco tracks for £16 with Tesco, so if you can get Quidco, a much better deal. Not voting either way (in fact, I don't know how to... lol)

Cancelled my Shopto order, blue unit ordered. Amazon best retailer ever!

Until the big releases are in Pilotwings will have to do for now.

£150? They are selling the DSIXL at £150 you will be waiting some time for the 3ds to get to this price. If anything it will go up in price when stock sells out. £200 is a bargain for something with the power of the device for the price

been looking at getting LO one of these to keep her busy if i go into labour and while waiting for grandparents to collect her. do these play normal games aswell or just special 3d ones?

@emmamed

They play both normal ds & the new 3ds games. If you don't want to use the 3D feature on the 3DS games, then you can turn the 3D off and play them like normal DS games. Hope that makes sense lol!

yes thanks biddy

they don't recommend that children under 6 years old use the 3D display because it can effect their eye development - so if LO stands for Little One you may be better off just getting a DSi or DS XL and a few games!

At first, I thought this was a great deal. I mean it's still alright, but it's not as perfect as it appears. It's £197 with Super Saver Delivery. So unless you have a Prime account, or pay for 1st Class (which takes it back to more than £200), then you won't receive it on launch day. For me, ShopTo is still the best option

Hey Hey, does anyone know if Amazon will charge you when you order it or will it be charged for when the item is dispatched?

I know it used to be not until it's dispatched but I can't see it anywhere this time?

Thanks

I already have a pre-order at Amazon at £202 and i just checked and it still shows that price in my order - will this be updated at a later date or on dispatch? (never done a pre-order with amazon so not sure how it works)

does anyone know if Amazon will charge you when you order it or will it be charged for when the item is dispatched?

They haven't charged me yet, iirc it said charged when dispatched.

Good price and am tempted but if the 360 in particular has taught me anything it's that early adoption is for mugs. will wait and see if there're any hardware problems and for some better games the launch line up looks lacklustre.

There's no evidence for this at all, it's just Nintendo covering their **** so they don't get sued.
Also, the 3D effect can be turned off at any time and it will also play 99% of DS/DSi games.

Nintendo are selling it to the retailers for £173, so still room for a wee price war before its release - recommend holding off for a bit.....
#25
They posted emails out about it today
#26
Yet another poster claiming it damages childrens eyes when there is NO evidence of this.

I'm not going to use my little girl as an experiment to find out however!

:) How many kids watch TV on giant TVs at close distance at home and have good eye sight?
Would a much smaller screen cause much damage even if it is displaying the image in a different way to produce a 3d effect?

Like a poster said this is just Nintendo just covering their asses!

Few days after the 3DS launch. Daily Mail headline "Daughter now blind thanks to evil 3DS! It also gives you cancer!"

ahhh the weekly pointless post for a deal on something that isn't released for another 6 weeks, and is bound to drop in price further before then. Roll on next week for the next penny saved installment :D

Shame this site doesn't have filters to block keywords

The ds range has got to be one of the most software pirated consoles out there, but has made loads of money for nintendo, I don't think anyone at Nintendo will be losing their jobs lol.

But having said that, i don't agree with piracy! ;)

Tell that to my mates in the UK games development community - developers are falling like dominoes at the moment, and a contributing factor is piracy.

Piracy doesn't equal sales!

Most people who pirate cannot afford to buy the games in the first place. Second hand/trade-in games does more damage to devs/publishers than pirated games.

The 360 is terrible folr problems particulary early on but even now- i bought a DS and a Wii on release dates and both are going well (hence i never bought any other DS upgrade)- except my DS touch screen is now a bit tempramental but thats since a bottle of water spilt in my bag :(

anyway, this sounds a good deal...however i get discount at tesco making it 177 so i doubt very much it could get any cheaper than that anywhere- plus i get 400 clubcard points with it

Is this meant to be some sort of piracy 'defence'?

Your first statement - No, it probably doesn't *equal* sales, but I think any sensible person would accept it seriously impacts on them - or would all those kids I see with R4 cards in their DSs never get games bought for birthdays, Xmas, etc?

Your second statement - pure ****! And besides, who made playing games some sort of basic human right?

Your third statement - possibly true, but is that supposed to imply piracy's 'okay'? So I suppose if you got mugged for £100 that's fine because it could've been £150?

Piracy is a problem, and nowhere more so on the DS. Have you never wondered why there aren't that many new games on DS these days? It's because most publishers won't touch the damn thing with a bargepole.
#36
Why don't they make it unhackable and drop the silly prices they would sell more games for a fair price and make even more money then everyone will be happy

I will keep downloading anything that takes my fancy from games dvds and music purely because i think the rrp are too high If i feel the end product is good enough I do buy the real product

rant over

tbh the 3ds will be cheap at launch due to the fact there is no major releases
mario kart / mario / luigi / donkey kong are absent till 3 months after launch.

most people will hold off til then. i still have a pending 180 euro order with zavvi. If it goes through then fine. If not then ill hold off till mario kart comes out. Its one of the main reasons i bought a wii
