Is it really necessary to start a new thread everytime another shop starts pre-orders for the PS3?

It's horrifically overpriced and highly unlikely that you'll even got one on release anyway.

Sorry but I don't see how this is a "Hot Deal" by any stretch of the imagination.

So surely it's good if people can post details of outlets that are now accepting pre-orders to increase their chances of obtaining one?

Lighten up, man  . It's going to be in very short supply on launch day (even you can see that) so this IS a hot deal IMHO.

If this pre-ordering lark actually guaranteed you a console I might agree with you, but all it seems to do is leave people frustrated.

I can't understand the desperate rush to have one on launch day, why not just wait a few weeks and save yourself being either disappointed, ripped off or both.

If you preorder you have more chance of getting just the console rather than having to buy a bundle offer, thats why im doing it.

Why are Game taking so long to start taking preorders, is mad! :w00t:

Is it a better idea to wait for GAME? or to just get one with Virgin Megastores or HMV?

I'm just not sure? as on GAME I would be 23 and on Virgin Megastores I would be 10th. But am I right that GAME recieve more consoles than anyone else, so higher chance of getting one?

Thanks:thumbsup:

HMV are rubbish. Flat out rubbish at sorting this kind of stuff out. They've done a deal with the Devil (Sony) and are guarantying you a PS3 if you order a PSP as well at an over exaggerated price, siting it as imperative for you to get the full experience from the PS3. More likely so they can ship units before the new model comes out (PSP that is).

Game will sort you out if you're 23rd in the queue! That said, so will Virgin if you're 10th in store I would have thought.

Give it a few weeks and you'll be able to get one instore IMO. Certainly a lot easier than it was/is with the Wii and how it was with the 360.

Far too much money for something with pretty much nothing good to play on it.

These kind of comments make me laugh.. horrifically overpriced in what way? If you want the latest Playstation combined with a High Def DVD player then it's a bargain. It's just as overpriced as the XBox360 and HD-DVD combo. Whether you want HD just yet isn't the point, based on what you get in that shiny black box it's very good value.

Blue ray player is fine, but i would personally wait till the end of the year for games as the only thing that is worth it when it launches is resistance i believe and thats still not worth buying it.
Be great with blue ray though, could see the revelence in that, for a gaming machine.. not yet though.

Yep I'm still sure!

Resistance is the only game on that list I'm remotely interested in playing or can't play on my 360 (I played Oblivion through almost a year ago). Plus I've got loads of games on my 360 already and more to choose from. Not to mention my Wii.

which is why it's not worth the money to me at the moment.

I don't need Blu ray so yes, it's overpriced. If I want a next gen DVD player I'll buy a standalone player when the time is right. The PS3 is sony's trojan horse for Blu ray. It's why it was held up and it's why it costs so much! DVD is perfectly suitable at the moment for game development.

Half of those games are rubbish, sorry, the rest are better on 360 (this has been proven on gamespot.com.. xbox 360 games compared to the ps3 are better in framerate ect.)
Alot of those games are on the 360 also, the only thing i see is motorstorm and thats had its hype but has had mxied reviews so far.

Resistance is the only glower there, which i admit is a great game and deserves a play through.

Motorstorm, Resistance are both fantastic games.. Virtua Fighter 5 has just been reviewed by Famitsu Japan and they gushed all over it. I didn't buy my 360 for the launch games but for the games that would come later on.. and i'm happy i did.

Hello, Logic? Those games (except flow, resistance and other ps3 exclusives) are all ports, I would be worried if they were not better on the 360... Just wait till developers start making the games aimed for the ps3... jesus

Blu ray is a dead duck waiting to happen! its like vhs vs beta max all over again. even if blue ray is a better product it looks like it will lose the war with HD players! first because people are a bit simple and will go for something that sounds like it will work with there HD tv and second because the porn industry has gone for HD! HD will win the same as vhs even though beta max was a better product.
#21
There will be no format war - just dual HD and BR players (like the LG one)
#22
we are talkin about a ps3 with a blue ray! worth the money
#23
Yep i was just replying to the comment that BluRay is dead. Neither is dead IMHO, i just think dual format players will win :)
#24
That is true! if i was going to buy either it would be a hd player. wouldnt touch a blu ray with a barge pole itis only sony that seem to have more than a vested intrest in them.

And the small matter of hollywood ;)
#26
Funnily enough, it will be the film industry NOT based in Hollywood that may decide the fate of bluray. The porn industry. It decided the VHS v. Betamax 'war' after all. Correct me if I'm wrong but I can't remember Sony winning a single format war over the years....
#27
It is true porn rules the world as far as visual entertainment devices go and they have said a big nooo to blu ray!! Lets put it like this anyone remember the sony mini disk? Personaly i think that blu ray is outdated before it has even hit our shores in the ps3! and there is always the rummors going round the the xbox 360 mk 2 will have a HD player built in for the same price as it is now.
#28
Porn did rule the world long before the internet had masses of it readily and easily available for download, I really don't think it matters which format they choose, and for the people saying the PS3 is overpriced, how can you say that when a standalone Blu-Ray player is more than the PS3, i'm not saying it's cheap by any means but for the technology it carries it can't be called a rip off.
#29
I knew there was a reason i applied for the Virgin card!
Preorderd with virgin i was told if it wasnt launch day i would get in the first week.
Also i am entitled to 10% discount Making me PS3 about £380! :D
