PS4 Slim - £330
PS4 Pro - £349

So if you just pay an extra £19 you get a much better PS4 hardware model.

Yeah, you get an extra controller and game but..

Seems silly to buy a slim over an original PS4, the difference is only visual and barely noticeable. The extra 500GB of space isn't worth paying that much more.

There are reports it runs cooler and doesn't overheat but I've never read complaints about customers' PS4s getting overheat. Just that the PS4 controller analogue (sticks) rubbers eventually slip off.

I'd go for the Pro over this.

It's also quieter than the previous models, my launch one is loud as feck at times.

My Ps4 kept overheating a few weeks back, kept switching off every 5/10 minutes, sent it off for repair and they couldn't fix it. It happens.

Alright but at the same time it's kind of rare, like, how PS3 Slims got YLOD issues (it didn't affect the majority just a few). My PS3 Slim has never given me any YLOD issues but it's kinda noisy.. I do love its console design. :)

Yeah, you get an extra controller and game but..

This, you are a numpty if you buy a regular PS4 Slim at this price, when £20 extra will get you a console more than twice as powerful. Even if you have a 1080p screen, all games released from now on will look and run better on the Pro.

Where did you work out £20? if you need that second controller and want FIFA then your option would cost about £90 more. And secondly, the console wont be twice as powerful, it will still run all the same games, and unless you have a 4K TV the difference will be barely noticeable.

As others have mentioned, the Slim model is pointless at the moment. Pay a little more and get the Pro, or pay a lot less and get the original model. If you ever need additional disk space, get a USB drive, or just get rid of the installed games you don't play anymore. Chances are most people won't ever need more than 500GB.

I was replying to a comment that already pointed out the lack of a game and a controller, so I didn't feel the need to regurgitate more than I already had. (and considering you can get Fifa for around £45 and the controller for £35 if you shop around, you are not saving much on that front either.)

The PS4 has 1.84TF of compute power, where then Pro has 4.2TF, (unfortunately the CPU only got a 30% boost in clock speed) that is the area that is the most important in games as that handles most of the gaming responsibilities, 1.84 x 2 = 3.68, more than double.

If you'd watched the consoles reveal you'd know developers can use the extra compute power in two different modes, one if running the game at 4K (upscaled because the console is not powerful enough to run 4K natively.) and second is a 1080p mode with more graphical details, draw distance and stable framerates. Even older games that won't receive a patch could see improvements for example games that use Dynamic resolution (ie resolution dips when the game is struggling to cope) will see the game stay at FullHD because they won't tax the GPU as much anymore.

For proof of this you just have to look at the Xbox One S, it only got a 5% GPU boost and we've seen games run 5-10 frames a second better despite the games not getting a patch or anything, the Pro gets a 30% CPU and 130% GPU boost, and a increase in speed of the RAM as well.

So if you thinking of buying a PS4 now, (unless it's a good deal at around £220) the best solution is the Pro, it will give you a better experience in games and at worst the experience will be identical.

Edit: OK I'm an idiot, this is for the 1TB model, not the 500GB model so £30 extra for the game and controller is not bad, though the console itself doesn't make sense when £50 extra will get you the PS4 Pro.

hi, I posted the deal but no expert. I've got a 7 year old who wants a ps4 for Xmas as well as Fifa 17. I don't see him getting use of the Pro so which one should I be buying?

...but what?

Sony said themselves that the PS4 Pro is more of a gamer's console, if it doesn't come with any games, then what's the point?

You acquire your own games?

The difference will clearly be noticeable. It's not just in graphics but also performance, as games will run better than they would on the Original/Slim models.
