When used with specially designed games, Wii MotionPlus tracks players' movements in finer detail and with greater accuracy than ever before, building upon the innovative wireless function of the motion-sensing Wii Remote controller. Even the slightest twist of the wrist or turn of the body is replicated exactly on the TV screen, allowing users to become even more immersed in Wii gameplay. Wii MotionPlus is designed for easy attachment to the Wii Remote controller (sold separately).

PRICE COMPARISON:

20/04/09 - Game £24.99

20/04/09 - Gamestation £24.99

24/04/2009 - Amazon.co.uk £17.99

20/05/2009 - Choicesuk £16.99 (free delivery if spending over £25)

Not a bad price at all, will have to wait and see if ShopTo, amazon, HMV etc.., can do better.

I have added a price comparison to the title. Will update this as much as I can.

bit pointless without a game

Good deal... as the wii has been hacked to death now and the games can be accessed for "virtually free"

You are joking, right? This is only coming bundled with Wii Sports Resort. If you do not want Wii Sports Resort but you want one of the tennis games (Virtua Tennis or Grand Slam Tennis) then you will need to purchase this seperately.

nice one

18 quid to make the controller as sensitive as it should've been from the off. :(

Still, decent price so heat!

Tell me about it.

Nintendo are very clever. They know people would buy a Wii when it came out as it was a new concept. Now they know people will buy a MotionPlus as its a more advanced version of their initial concept.

Much like the DSi. The next DSi will have a 3mp camera etc. Its their business to keep people interested. Unfair though!!

Wonder how long it will take them to ship with new wii console packages?

In the next few months will have a better idea whats in sport resorts too, it hasn't really exicted me yet.

In one of the fencing/sword fighting clips on youtube the player is moaning its not jabbing as they wanted or something .. not registering properly, hmmmm.

Anyone know what this does? I assume it just sends the same motion signals as the remote already does? Or does it add a new measurement?

At the momemt the Wii remote only gives "swipes". The new MotionPlus gives 1:1 movement to the Wii.

For example, the new Grand Slam Tennis. You can perform slices, twist the racket in your hand as you serve etc. With the current Wii remote you can only hit the ball back over the net without putting any variation on it.

The MotionPlus is going to be fantastic for sports games like tennis, cricket (if they ever bring one out!!), golf etc. It will also be great for games with sword fighting etc.

i don't think it's some clever marketing ploy to sell twice to us, i suspect it far more of a case of the technology not being there (or at least not cost effective, small enough at the time of launch) - but i agree with the notion it's about time they got a fix for it

Apart from graphics and odd fixes, Nintendo have accomplished a lot with the Wii.

I am looking forward to the MotionPlus.

It is a good deal for what it is, but when I think one of these plus a Wiimote will end up coming in at just under a combined total of £50 it makes me think! (Plus £10 - £15 for the Nunchuk!)

I mean the console only costs £144 at Head!

I'm sure I read that the rrp is £12.99 when it comes out in June

EDIT: My mistake. The rrp is $20 in the USA (about £13 - its $19.99 at amazon.com). RRP in the UK is £24.99.

once again, nintendo shafts europe!

EA are going to bundle it with a few of their games, Sports Resort will come later. If you want to play two player though you're going to have to buy an extra dongle, which is why they're selling this one on its own.

I reckon most people have 2 or more remotes and Nintendo are aiming to sell a dongle for every one of them, kerrching!

Any ideas when they will sell the wii mote with wii motion plus built in as standard, and how much it will be? Surely £35 max

I am not sure to be honest. I doubt at the moment they have even thought about it. If they sell a new bundle I am sure it will come with it as a marketing idea.

have you played tennis in wii sports? you can currently do all that, what wii really needs is to eliminate the ability to use small wrist swipes and flicks and know where in 'space' the wiimote is - not just how fast it moved in a direction from a point a sec ago.

You can put either backspin or topspin on the ball depending on the angle of the wiimote when you strike the ball.

To the extent of how the Motion Plus will?! No.

I don't think the motion plus is going to help with the type of stroke you play. From what I can see motion plus tells the wii where the wiimote is in physical space, the wiimote already can tell the wii at which angle the wiimote is at very accurately which is what decides what type of shot you play.

All I can see this adding to tennis is realtime movements of the racket rather than it playing the shot shortly after you swing. Also better sensing of whether you play forehand or backhand, at the moment you can play a forehand shot using a backhand swing and vice versa which will be much harder with motion plus.

Think it's time to sell them Wii now. It's bad enough there are no good games but now they're selling attachments at £20 a pop to play no good games.

Maybe if they had called it Wii Motion Plus Party - you know, like they call every other game that is actually only fun when you're drunk and your mental faculties are impaired so you actually think what you're playing is fun.

Thats why as a consumer we have a choice as to whether to buy the games or not.

The Wii was never made for hardcore gamers. There are plenty of Wii games out there to keep the "fanboy" occupied.

There are plenty of games coming out this year to please people who enjoy all genres.

Do they have 'Party' in the title?

Seriously though, even for casual gamers it gets a bit boring after 10 games of tennis.

Hmmm do you get 1 or 2 attachments for this price?

I know for a fact its being bundled with Wii Sports Resort and Tiger Woods 2010 so might be better to hold out for a better bundle deal?

You only get one....this is a GREAT price if you are going to only buy one of the titles that come bundled with this attachment.

The bundles (apparently) are:

Tiger Woods 10
Wii Sports Resort
Grand Slam Tennis
Virtua Tennis.
#32
Have you seen the Wii Motion Plus in action for the new Tiger Woods game? The link below shows you what the motion plus does for your swing, reduce backswing if wanted, draw fade etc the movie is on gametrailers at the minute so that may give some people a better idea of how the motionplus will work.

I assume it will be similar for the tennis games etc

No it doesnt.

Tiger Woods
Tennis
Wii Sports Resort
Red Steel 2 later on in the year..
No doubt EA will pull their finger out soon and make a cricket game

4 of the above are confirmed. They will bring out so great games for the Wii.

How anyone can defend NInendo about these motion + add ons is beyond me.

They sold us the wii as being capable of doing all these things that now we have to pay approx £20 per controller (so could be up to £80 for four) to get what wet hought we was buying anyway???

I know those who dont play game much will argue the wii is fun and kills some time....and everyone is entitles to an opinon.

My opinon is, the Wii is marketing genius and nothing more - a repackaged gamecube with online functionality and a fancy controller which clearly didn't work as sold (or we wouldnt need this add on would we).

I could just about stomach being re-sold old gamecube games with the control system patched to work with the wii controller.....but asking us to now buy add ons to the controller to make it work as first sold to us is too much.

Dont even get me started on the 99% of games which are complete garbage, and those that are good are mostly the same old stuff remade time and time again by nintendo...mario kart even has all the old tracks most of us we got bored of years ago.
#37
I wouldn't pay this for them give it 3 months these will be 9.99 . They can't justify the cost atm.

I wouldn't buy one for the added bonus.

It wasn't technologically or economically viable to have it in the original wii remote
