Yakuza 4 picks up the story of Yakuza 3 one year later and takes the player back to Tokyo. The story starts when a man is shot to death in the ruling territory of the Tojo Clan, the organisation that has featured in all games in the series to date. A small gang which belongs to Tojo Clan try to establish what happened and their leader is soon found stabbed to death. These events cause a heated battle between four men over money, power, status and honour. The truth becomes apparent as the lies, betrayals and entwined stories are revealed and when these 4 unflinching men get together, the new legend of Kamurocho is born.

For the first time, fans can experience the Japanese underworld not just through the eyes of Kazuma Kiryu, but three intriguing new characters each with their own compelling backstory and a gripping interwoven plot.

Experience the Japanese underworld under the guise of 4 characters - it would not be a Yakuza game if you couldn't still play as Kazuma, but now play as three of the other key characters from the franchise. Each character has different missions and allows the player to explore the city from different viewpoints and engage in the Japanese underworld more than has ever been seen before.

Authentic replication of Tokyo - In addition to the bright lights of downtown Tokyo, players can now go into the depths of the intricate underground, explore the backstreets of the city and take in the views from the rooftops of buildings.

Become the ultimate fighter - enhanced battle mechanics and a new fighter training system allow players to work on their skills and become the ultimate fighter.

Deep Japanese story - an intricate storyline that incorporates all aspects of Japanese culture including hostess bars, karaoke and city exploration

Conversely, I played the demo and thought it was pretty awful. Sketchy graphics, boring fighting.

hmmm.... preordered the steelbook but on this sounds lame lol..

The demo is a terrible representation of the full game.

This is an open-world game with a great storyline. The combat gets more complex as you unlock more skills, easily worth this price!

Great games, stupid people get bored quickly (usually due to a lack of robots and lasers).

You're entitled to your opinion but I personally thought Yakuza 3 was brilliant. It's the closest game you will ever likely get that comes close to Shemnue.

Can't wait for Yakuza 4 :)

Could care less what naysayers say about the Yakuza series. Personally I find the series great and looking forward to number 4. Voted hot.

Apologies, didn't know the spelling police were out today!

The demo is awful, it makes people think it's just a modern Streets of Rage, but it's not like that at all.. please give it a chance people. Think Shenmue!

Stupid people like lame graphics and button mashing

There is more to a game than graphics and MOST fighting games have some sort of degree of button mashing.
This game is not for everyone, but anyone who is looking for a change from the usual western developed games(halo, gears, uncharted...) I would recommend picking this up.

The last game had so much content that it made up for the last gen feeling game play and dated graphics. The last Yakuza had 120 side mission ( thats around 7 hours of game play alone), there is also a bunch of mini games which breaks up the repetitive core game play. You can also customize/make you own weapons. The added 3 extra characters with their own unique fighting style should hopefully mix up the core game elements a bit.

The last 3 games started of slow, but when it got going, I couldn't put the game down. You have to put a lot of hours into this game. The latest demo only shows 10% of the game.

I loved yakuza 3 but that did drop to around £20 within a couple of weeks so I'm going to wait to see if the same happens with this, good price for a pre-order though.

Shenmue is so much better, Sega are Idiots for focusing on these games, they're ok but boring after a bit

What demand exactly? The games flopped, I loved Shenmue, one of the reasons I brought a Dreamcast but come on it was failure not Sega being stupid
