I went to buy God of War Chains Of Olympus for the PSP (£4.99 preowned) and Gears of War for the Xbox 360 (£4.99 preowned) in the GAME store at the Mall Cribbs Causeway, Bristol.

Behind the til I noticed a bundle of Call Of Duty 4 Moderwarfare (Xbox 360) for £4.99 when bought with anything in store. The shop assistant started to scan them through the til then told me that Gears Of War was scanning through at £0.99.

He then told me it was coming up at £0.01 when bought with anything else!

I had £2.50 on my reward card so got God Of War: Chains Of Olympus, Call Of Duty 4 Modernwarfare and Gears Of War for £8.47! Yes £8.47

SO:
Call Of Duty 4 Modernwarfare @ £4.99 when bought with anything in store
AND
Gears Of War @ £0.01 when bought with anything in store!
Yes - 1 whole penny!

First post too :)

I noticed pre owned copies of PES 5 or 6 for the PS2 for 49p.
Some GAME stores sell the WOW trials for under 20p or something along those lines.
#5
The 0.01 looks to be related to the CoD, not GoW. GoW scanned at .99p. The 1p seems to be a weird workaround for the CoD deal - 12.99 alone, plus 1p, minus the 8.01 discount, = 4.99.

The total being 4.99 for CoD, 0.99 for GoW, 4.99 for CoO = 10.97, minus 2.5 = 8.47.

Still a good deal though :)

>> Indeed. What's the cheapest thing for sale in Game?

WoW trial for 1p (at least in Hull). Great for cheap dvd cases ;) That or all the strategy guides that always get cleared @ 1p.

More available stuff would be the "Other X Accessory" (PS2, GameCube, Xbox) - random memory cards, bongoes, wheels, controllers, all bought in under a generic "Other..." id, usually 49p.
#7
This nationwide or store specific?
#8
Nope, its not on a When Bought With Deal.

The code that scanned up as 1p, is just the code they use to give you a 'When Bought With Anything In Store' discount; which in this case is the CoD for £4.99

Also, the sales assistant is a bit dim, as the Gears of War he sold you actually scanned through as NEW (probably due to there being no preowned barcode on the back), preowned it is £4.99

CoD £4.99
God of War £4.99
Gears 99p

£10.97 - £2.50 = £8.47

But I assure you guys, 99p is for a NEW copy (Sold out almost everywhere) and £4.99 is the preowned price.

There is a pre owned bar code sticker on the back of Gears Of War and it is definitely not a new
version. And there is also a separate 'when bought with anything' code for CoD 4 on the bottom of the receipt picture.

hahhaha!! this sales assisstant is dumb as ****, i work in GAME (management) and i can assure you all that he HAS scanned gears at the wrong price, its not gone through as pre owned, he will get the sack for that!! :D fool, as stated above, gears is £4.99 i sold a load today.

i can tell you its the staff fault, we are trained to press a button and sell products as preowned if stocked as preowned, its not rocket science is it? i think a novice like yourself could handle that no?

About GAME's promotion policies, that is.

He'd get the sack for a simple mistake and the sake of 4 quid? Don't think so somehow

its called messing up stock counts... GAME buys stock off the general public for a percentage of the sales, then they sell it on at a set value, how in any way will the companys stock count or sale growth be what it is meant to be if things like this happen? if any of you actually have jobs surely you can understand how it works? the system says we have minus 1 new... good? probably not.
#16
might do this today, just scan a game in at a 5ths of its price :) dont suppose the comapny will care... idiots.

game is a huge company, they aren't going to go bust over one single game, you need to chill out he's already said it didn't have the preowned sticker on, so how isit going to affect the stock?
#18
im chilled, haha, just find it funny how its happened, and how people are saying its the systems fault asif it should have known...

Wow, what a bad attitude. Patronising, disrespectful and taking glee in a potential sacking? You confirm everything that people have complained about when having to deal with you and your contemporaries across GAME store management.

Having said that, your username suggests you're just 19/20 years old. Maybe you're a troll and not a manager at all. Just trying to stir things up are you?

+1 to this,

At 19/20 management at Game is out of the question - Stop stirring and trolling and find something constructive to do with yourself.

As a consumer I couldn't give a toss about their crappy attitudes. It's their ridiculous prices that put me off. £21.99 for Left For Dead 2 (Pre-owned)... ehh no thanks i'll get it for £12 online brand new.

Having said that GameStation are worse. I know they are under the same company but my local is retarded. Saw Super Street Fighter 4 at £29.99 in there yesterday! Or how about Mirror's Edge pre-owned for £14.99?

Then they wonder why they closed down so many stores the past couple of years.

Gamestation used to be brilliant and have good value back before it was taken it over. Was my favourite shop, went in there all the time... Have barely been in since the take over though, it's poor and hard to find any value there.

>> its called messing up stock counts...

ohhh, I'm sure they're quite capable of messing up stock counts without relying on a single misspress of a button :) FWIW though, do you really have to press a button? I always assumed that's why the barcodes were stuck on in the first place - terrible excess expense, both directly and in costs of getting you lot to put the things on cases, and a load of extra litter everywhere - but it sure stops anyone from accidentaly scanning a new (unstickered, publisher EAN) game as a used copy. No buttons needed, no having to worry about someone not pressing it.

But if you *do* have to press a button to inform the system a game is preowned, why the hell go to the effort and expense of creating new EANs for all used games? Just, scan the normal EAN, and hit the damn button. Simples (if prone to hugely excessive errornous presses, mispriced games, huge surge in returns and complaints, etc etc). It just no makey sense to mee :(

Well done you cracked the code :) very smart, i am actually 20 but im not lying about being management. and i take no glee in people getting sacked, i just find this rookie mistake rather ammusing, im sure if someone did something so miniscule yet idiotic at your work place you would rub it all in their face, especially when people post it on here thinking it was a great deal?

And there was never any bad attitude, just think its a little stupid to suggest the computer has obviously made the mistake and not the staff. its like saying, if someone at macdonalds gave you a large meal for medium price "stupid machine din't crap out a medium sized chip holder"

STAFF SHOULD ALWAYS TAKE RESPONSIBILITY, DONT BLAME THE MORE THAN CAPABLE MACHINE, THEY WILL RULE AFTER ALL...

And the name... i think its pretty cool, but have your say..

RANT OVER.

Nope, people make mistakes all the time since they're human, and rubbing it in when a colleague makes a mistake is what an immature, unpopular jerk would do.

Your posts had plenty of bad attitude, as my quotes showed. If you think otherwise then you must just be unpleasant to people all the time and not even realise you're doing it!

Management aint paid to allow stupid mistakes pass, the company doesnt profit from people selling things wrongly, sorry for pointing out the obvious.

And it was never a dig at a paticular person, i don't know who the sales assisstant is, im just mearly pointing out the fact its massively stupid.

You must work in build a bear or something then?? Is everyone nice there? Do you all hug in the mornings?

Now thats bad attitude, idiot... see what i did there? nice hey

I see Game don't expect their management to be able to spell and punctuate properly then? Yet you're out the door if you lose the company £4! haha. Even though having said that, that one member of staff probably made the business 10 times what he lost it, just from this deal being created out of his mistake.
#31
Well, the deal poster has been suspended (or is that a joke profile picture?) and the deal's been expired, so I guess it was fake?

Seem to go to alot of trouble to fake it though. But the till receipt's fairly unfathomable.

Anyone been in and tried this?
