I noticed this today at my local Game.
I know it's fairly old hat but it's got to be a bargain for less than a tenner given the cheap second hand games available. Just bear in mind that you may need reinforced floorboards to take the weight of this BIG console!

To check if you have one in your store:
Game store finder
http://www.game.co.uk/Help/StoreFinder.aspx

and call em!

Went to Meadowhell 29 July 08. They had about 25 in the Game next to Apple Store. No idea about the other branch.

Sorry OP just thought i'd add my soft modding xbox thread so people can see.

You think it's big ? 2 PS3s will take up the same space....

Let's just say that I wouldn't want one dropped on my head!

My dad dropped mine off at the flat the other day. The build quality is fantastic :) I only have Halo 2, Beyond Good & Evil, SSX3 and Outrun 2 left now.

Only just realised Outrun is on the 360 compatible list, will have to go play it.
#3
I bought one to use as a step stool for reaching items stored in high cupboards.
#4
Ill have a look doubt my Game has it.
#5
Yeah they are quite big, but quite good, fancy getting one for the old Buffy games!

I already have a softmodded xbox but I'll be picking another up for my brother :)

The PS3 is actually slightly larger than the Xbox.

A bit gutted as my Xbox has needed a new DVD drive for a while - up until now I've been content just FTPing things onto its hard drive, but now the drive is full and is stuff on DVD I want to watch so I finally caved and bought a new DVD drive for it for £15. Now I realised I could have bought an entire console for £10!

depends if they went to the point haveing to re-connect everything after said photo... then i argee with you :-D

Wow that's a bargain! I bought 3 when they had them for £19.99.

I had bought a DivX player a couple of weeks earlier and sold that after softmodding and installing XBMC.
#13
Superb price. Recently bought a 360 but kept the old housebrick as it's chipped and I've loads of games for the bairns.

They chop and change consoles and aren't bothered about which they play on.

I might buy another as the old 'un has a dodgy cd tray.

Great post.

Where did you see this offer, i would get one purely to soft mod =]

As mentioned above, it is definitely worth buying one of these to run Xbox Media Centre (http://www.xbmc.org). This lets you stream content over your network (so you can play any media you download onto your PC on your TV, play music, DVDs, show photos, watch YouTube, stream video using services such as SopCast and will soon (probably) allow you to watch iPlayer again.

To run the software, you need to softmod the console, which is a fairly simple process if you're adept with computers; though you need to have a specific game to run as well as access to a memory card you can connect to your PC or a USB memory stick that is up to the job (alongwith a USB-Xbox cable off Ebay).

Just think in about 3yrs you'll get an XBox 360 for this price.

You think it's big ? 2 PS3s will take up the same space as ONE Xbox 1 and still only show half the graphics etc The Xbox blowa it away...

Yeah, exactly. This console, installed with XBMC software, is an excellent media player - it will be DVD region free and play just about any type of audio or video file you could name either from disk, hard drive (upgradable to just about any size of IDE HD) or across a network. It gives it features that even a £300 media player wouldn't have.
Microsoft made a good move giving the 360 DivX support, but the 360 still doesn't play half of the file types that a modded Xbox does (and probably never will). Plus you need to be online and signed in to Xbox Live to play DivX on a 360, which can be inconvenient (like what if your net connection goes down and you want to watch some TV :?).
Only thing that doesn't make it future prove is the lack of full HD support - but you will at least get 720p out of it if you buy a component cable. Plus 5.1 audio of course

Im tripping to game tomorow =]

Had a softmodded one previously so if its a tenner then i'll definitely be picking this up, HOT.

Great price, this really is an excellent machine once modded (I used a chip but I hear softmodding can be done for slightly cheaper).
With xbmc you can use it for all dvd's, divx, xvid, etc. Plays pretty much anything.
Unfortunately it won't support 720P for video.

Any easy tutorials on soft modding an xbox. I got it from game around 2 months ago when it was £19.99, and its been sat it its box since, I also got splinter cell, which is supposedly needed for the hack.

Great stuff.

However, they're out of stock online and £34.99.

Might check out my local store though, I've been meaning to get one for a while to turn it into a media centre.

You just need to change it to NTSC then the HD resolutions become unlocked. I use XBMC at 720p but unfortunately it drops frames playing x264 @ 720p and HD Divx. It still is the best way to watch your downloaded tv in your living room though.
