Spotted this when I was looking for a pre owned PS3 the other day. They had pre owned PSP 3000's for £69.99, had plenty in stock. Not sure if this is nationwide but presume it is.
This was at Leicester Narborough Rd store

They will specifically identify it as a 3000 if it is one.

But when they say "PSP Base" this means fat.

"PSP slim" this is the 2000.

There are a few differences, such as from what I have read has a better screen on the 3000, but the 2000 is good enough.

I have ordered the PSP2000 from Orange for £90.58 overall. As I offered £85 and it was accepted plus £5.58 postage

Also it has an in-built microphone

But from what I understand on the 3000 there is no way to make it permanent.

Meaning you need to do the whole process every time you power the 3000 down,
#19
Hot from me, even though my local never have anything decent like this!
#20
Awesome Thank you
#21
I've just Google and the 3000 seems hackable...
#22
For everyone asking if you can hack it....the answer is maybe if it has the correct firmware....see below:

#23
great deal

just make sure you get monster hunter freedom unite.
#24
Man would like to get one of these again, my old psp with 1.5 firmware got stolen a couple of years ago, loved playing my old amiga and nes games on it.
#25
From what I understand apart from knowing the original firmware. To tell if its hackable you can go by the motherboard.

http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/1619/hackablepsps1.png

Apparently sometimes you can tell from the box, after G it can be hit and miss.

Anyways, See the G there?

PSP-2000 CW
100v
G

That G is the letter in question. Here's a list of all the letters that the 2000 series ship with:
(No Letter) = 3.60
A = 3.71
B = Doesn’t exist
C = 3.72
D = Doesn’t exist
E = 3.80
F = 3.90
G = 3.95 (TA-088v1) / 4.01 (TA-088v2) / 4.01 (TA-088v3)

PSP hackable... hmmmm . Looked into this alot over the last few months on the internet but this is not easy to always figure out because custom firmware and some PSP's that in the past were not now are but are still up on the net saying they are not ! .

PSP 1000 (phat) . You would have to try really hard to mess up putting custom firmware on this and even if you do get it wrong you can always make/buy a pandora battery and recover it and try again :thumbsup: . Almost bullet proof

PSP 2000 (slim). Lots of different motherboards made for it which makes it ackward to figure out if the one you own can. The only real way to know is to open it up and check the serial number.

PSP 3000 . Only 1 motherboard ever made for this model so can be done using the chickenhen method . The only down side is you can only put the psp into standby as you can not pernamently over write the firmware . If you shut the PSP off then you need to reinstall it again.

PSP Go....... NOPE !

Things get ackward depending on what firmware you have on your PSP but if you really want put custom firmware on for running homebrew games the PSP phat is the easy and no screwup route and is £70 at gamestation with a 12 month warrenty but you know what... the second hand games are dirt cheap at gamestaion to buy anyway + you dont have to worry about updating your firmware every 6 months to play the latest games :thumbsup:

Loads of people have bricked their PSP2000/3000 by messing up so ask yourself if you are prepared to take that risk .Back onto topic though . HOT DEAL so heat added at this price

Got one of these thanks to the previous thread. Asked to look at them and they had 2 black ones with a few marks, and a white one that was brand new.Apparently they were shifting their old 2003 model stock and were told to put them in as 2nd hand. Factory seal was still on it and it was clean as a whistle.

Just a note that this deal will be VERY store specific as they are clearing them, I called 3 other BB shops and they had no stock whatsoever, if you want one stop reading this and get down there!! :p

If you've had it put aside, why not ask them what model it is?

He probably means that it LOOKS good BUT depends on the unit you get. IF its in good condtion, and IF its one of the models that can easily be chipped ITS a good deal.... if its scratched and a new hard to mod board then its NOT :thumbsup:

Fair enough - thanks! It's unboxed, so do I need to open up the battery to tell whether it's moddable?

I think you actually need to open up the PSP and look at the motherboard part number. The PSP 2000 is the only one out of the PSP 1000.2000 & 3000 that you need to do this. I think some one posted a chart earlier in this post for the different mother board numbers and if they can be made to run Custom firmware. If you try to install Custom firmware on a none compatable PSP2000 you will brick it and only Sony can recover it for you. Could be hard to explain to them :oops:

Not JUST Sony, anyone with a "Pandora battery" should be able to unbrick it AFAIK?

Popped into collect this - the joystick was missing! They're now getting a ceramic white one from a different store. Fingers crossed it's in decent nick.
