I think this might suit some people if they are after Halo Reach.

This bundle consists of:

Xbox 360 Elite Console
Halo: Reach

PS: They probably have tons of ELITEs as people probably traded them for the new XBOX, but this seems a reasonable price.

The game is around £35 so you are getting the Elite for around £85 not a bad deal I think

This is VERY good.

However, many people won't like this because of the slim.

For me it would depend on whether the Elite was a Jasper or not. The older elites were not very reliable.

i traded in a 3 month old elite for a slim. am i mad?
#3
Cold from me i think it would be hard to find a jasper so it would be unreliable
#4
There's no way I would buy a second hand 360.

I traded in a 7 month elite lol. This is a VERY good deal.
#8
Yeah, not sure about buying a second hand 360 as you're not sure what type you'll get it. If it's an older model the reliability isn't going to be worth it. Good deal with that game though
#9
Chance of getting a banned 360 is high as they no doubt don't test if they online banned.

.....unless it's a Jtag :p
#16

any discount codes ppl ? plssssssssssss

Cold from me, just seems too expensive for a second hand elite.

Depends if you get a jasper elite. i guess in store you can check manufacture date. Jaspers are reliable I dont know anyone that has had one fail. You will get 12 month warranty as well from game - if an fault doesnt show up int hat time its unlikley to show up with a jasper. If its bee banned for live well you just take it straight back and get another one.

People that think the 360 is bad reliability wise need a rality check I recently was looking for a ps3 on ebay I was amazed at how many 40, 60 and 80gb models were on there with ylod (ps3 rrod) faulty BR drives etc etc etc. At least 30% of the ps3 consoles listed were faulty when I was looking !

Doesnt look like there will be that many discounts on the game at launch and it will be the biggest game of this year by far. Say £35 for the game so its £85 for an elite. Thats cheap and decent value if its a jasper IMO.

Also you get 3 year warrnty on rrod so if you check the manufacture date on the console you might get a bit extra over and above thegame warranty.

Thanks m8, whats the difference between the Falcon and the Jasper?

I bought an Elite 'pre-owned' from Game a while back. It was reconditioned and by checking the console label (power) I was able to make sure I was getting a Jasper console. 12 month Warranty on it too,and as I understand it, the RROD issue on these is covered for more than the 12 months by M$.
So, if this is affordable for you, and you aren't bothered about the extras available on the 360S I would say its a good deal. For me, its very good and I would recommend it.
Best part of the XBOX for me is taking AVI movies from the laptop, transferring them to an External HD and using the XBOX to play hi-def movies on the big TV. Again, all for less than a ton.
Halo Reach looks pretty decent as well. voted HOT

If the elite was as quiet as the slim, I would definitely get one (don't need a bigger HD or wifi). I only use it for games (use my PS3 for films) and my old 360 is so noisy I don't like using it.

The Jasper is the later chip architecture and draws less power to do the same work. It therefore runs cooler and that means improved reliability.

This was an issue with the older XBOX models which ran anything but the Jasper chip (inc. Falcon), and caused the Red Ring Of Death (RROD).

That's about it. There is report out there that the Jasper XBOX also runs quieter than its older siblings, although having owned both, I'd say there is little difference.

I can only say good things about the customer service from Game, I bought a pre owned 20gb about 2 months ago and it RROD after 4 weeks, I took it to my local store and they replaced it but this unit was a bit tat so I returned it the next day and they gave me my money back even though I had just passed the 28 day return date. They really were very good and I cannot praise their help high enough so I would have no fear about buying a pre owned one; it will still go bag but they will go out of their way to help you with replacements.

Good deal I guess but how hot really depends on if you want Halo Reach or not.

Unless it was for the less chav-tastic 4gb slim, then yes, you are insane.

Neither of the old 360s are noisy if you install the game to the HDD ;)

If the console you bought HAS NOT been registered, then yes you will have extended RROD warranty when you register it. A lot of consoles have already been registered though, meaning no warranty from MS.
#28
I see people going into GAME all the time who bought preowned consoles and they just get the run around from the staff, this is a total none deal, why buy something that is this old, unreliable, noisy, and has no wifi ?

Want a bet? My 2nd hand, eBay bought, first-generation Xbox 360 Pro sounds like an aircraft taking off, whether it's in the XMB, or playing a game (with or without installing it to the HD) :)
#30
I wouldn't risk it, I traded 2 consoles in at Game that would likely not last 30 seconds.
#31
Anyone wanting one of these, ask the staff to let you see the unit before buying.

The Manufacture date is printed on the back. Mid 08 or newer, and the unit will be reliable. Many stores have many units made in 09, often very late 09, so you can make sure they're fairly new.
#32
using the dates is one way but not the best, if you want a jasper check the voltage used, its recorded just under the date, the psu is 150w and the unit takes 12v at 12.1a. Anything over these values is not a jasper, and the only ones using less are the new design xboxs at 12v 11.1a with a 130wat psu.
#33
Wow I did not think this was going to get this hot.

As I said I think this deal is good if you really want Halo Reach and not bother about the Wifi. The warranty you should be fine as game are very good to replace units.

I was so lucky to find this weekend a 4GB XBOX 360 S pre-owned (maybe like a week or two old) at my local Comics, console shop for £119 and I traded a lot of old stuff like gameboy colour, some PS2 and XBOX1 accesories which he gave me like £19 for them so I paid £100 so well happy.

I have to say I am very please with the slim version is a bit smaller and very quiet, I managed to copy some of my stuff (profile, saved game) across using the 4gb internal memory and I am using a 8gb pen drive to install the game.

Out of interest does anybody knows if the 250gb slim version has any internal memory ?

pretty sure xboxes are cover for 3 years for RROD problems.....i had a console that was 2.5 years old when it RROD'd and got a new one (last year i had 6 xboxes fail - oh and 1 stolen)
#36
Picked this up today, thanks to the OP. It's available in-store, and if you talk to them nicely they'll usually let you pick and choose a Jasper chipset Xbox -- personally I'd suggest you avoid any preowned non-Jasper 360s. And the deal is available in Gamestation as well as Game.
#37
@royals as noted a few posts before yours, the 3 year warranty only applies to the original registered purchaser of the Xbox. If you buy a preowned one and it dies, Microsoft might help you out, and they might not. Buy accordingly.
#38
hey dr.glyndwr, do you reckon you can scan or photograph your receipt? my local game store knew nothing of the deal on the release date of reach, I ended up having to pay £129 instead of £119. If you photograph your receipt, I could use that as proof it exists :)

£129.99 for me here as well. £99.99 for pre-owned elite on its own. Expired.
