I can't for the life of me understand why people would vote a deal like this cold. It is what it is. You wouldn't expect to strip an engine down with this kit, but you could used it for putting Ikea furniture together, instead of those ridiculous allen keys they supply. you could use it for a lot of light diy around the house, for repairing a bike, loads of things. And to get it for under a fiver is a very, very good deal. Some of the people who use this site are just petty and, more likely, envious that they didn't see it first. Sorry I can't give you more heat OP.

Hate to be picky, but this kit doesn't include allen keys ('hex' bits in socket terms) - you'd still need the ridiculous allen keys

I was thinking HOT, as even though the quality would be low, the price is ridiculous. But AndyRoyd has pointed out the same item (or thereabouts), for cheaper, arriving sooner. I don't think that makes this deal COLD, but it is definitely relevant

totally agree. I have decent tools, however most people in an average house wouldnt manage to break these the amount of times they would use them. maybe they just want snap on in the poundshop.

erm... no you couldn't; in all the Ikea stuff I've put together I've never needed a socket set!
A socket set and a set of Allen keys are completely different things.

You'd be far better off with this Halfords base set which is regularly discounted and includes a screwdriver & bit set too. Even at full price it's not that bad a deal.

if you want the Allen keys the same company do the box of 100 bits for about £5 not the best quality but will fit everything including security bits

Probably cos according to post #02 it's available for 20% less from a supplier who gets it to you quicker. That seems a reasonable justification.

The word Torx drew me in but there's no Torx socket bits in this or AndyRoyds offering from what I can see

I'd have to completely agree, I'd advise the same.

The ratchet on those cheap sets is absolutely terrible, they can't have changed for 30 years and they were awful then!
£15 for a really good set, or £4 or £5 for a set that is going to do nothing but annoy you. I know which I'd choose.

And actually those allen keys that Ikea use are ok for one use, it's the spanners they have that are terrible.

The ratchet will last all of 5 minutes.
