I concur, for this type of sausage Tesco would shaft you for more than double.

I picked up the pork and apple and the plain pork, but I have tried the chipolata (lovely) got some in the freezer from last time and the herb ones are terrific too.
#3
i love the pork and herb also. highly reccomended

Yummy Yummy in my Tummy

Full of nutricious things like offal and fat.

Help us towards our 5 a day Obesitity targets;-)

Whilst your at lidl getting those sausages, pick up their potato salad too! Large tub and its totally addictive!!
#6
Im gonna go for some of that. At the one near me, they don't do reductions on their bread or cakes, they put them at the front of the store so when you leave you take what you like for free!

Their salami is seriously nice, but I will have a heart attack if I eat much more.

Premium ham is good too, and much cheaper than somewhere like Tesco or Sainsbury's

Tesco Bratwurst are best! Now you're going to tell me Lidl do them better, aren't you? ;-)

Very possibly!
#8
Tesco have a good range of sausage's these lidl sausage's are very good we all understand what is sausage is made off but indeed variety is the spice of life
#9
The Lidl's Crianza red wine is also superb (and only £2.29 per bottle when on offer)!
#10
If there's more than 75% pork in there then fine but anything under that I'd give it a miss. I don't fancy eating fat, cheek, ears and the face of the pig............gads.

Might sound daft, but do these type of sausages need to be fried? I usually buy the frozen ones and just stick them in the oven, with fishfingers, waffles etc.

Food at Lidl? No thanks.
#17
No they can be oven cooked. Lidl is the German Tesco, so no probs with the food there. In fact their fresh stuff is better (IMO)

Erm, why? Lidl = Deutschland , better food standards than farmer Giles from the UK :p

Yep, their cheeses and salami are the best.

Why is that then - because you dont have a clue about food and just go for well known brand names?

well their standards arent that high.....they opened a lidl in reading recently and i rushed in their to buy some bottled water - to drink whilst watching a a footy match......checking later revealed it was a TWO YEARs past its best before date!! SEPT 2006
looks a bit of jumble sale at times
luckily it was water...i wont be going back...
will stick with m&S, waitrose, morrisions, sainsburys and Asda (detest tesco as they havent heard of customer service - try returning something, every time its a battle, even when you are within your rights - but i always win)
dont eat sausages that often, but when i do i like the bratwurst from costco or the speciality sausages from M&S are good when on offer

Snobs, snobs, snobs!!
Lidl's food is first class. Their fresh fruit and veg is better than any other supermarket, in terms of both quality and value.

Lidl are well aware of the perceptions and run a slightly funny series of ads here in NI. Have a look at this:

Im not a snob by no means, i shop on a budget and try to get the best available but only ever been to lidls twice, first time when it was opened and it was the most horrendous shop i have ever done, it was like being in the middle of a rummage sale people would shove you out the way, the shelves where like a pack of animals had been through them, i assumed it was because it was new and shropshire people had been injected with some kind of drug for the opening so gave it another go, went back and nothing had really chnaged so never went again

The Pork Chipolata Sausages are 95% pork. This is the highest meat percentage I have seen in a pack of sausages. Had some cheep sausages recently and by the time they were cooked the pan was full of fat from the sausages. These are far tastier and healthier!
#26
I must say, the one near me isn't like a jumble sale. It's all well organised. The only problem I have is there is only ever one checkout open (even when they're packed). But I suppose this keeps the costs down, so I won't moan that much!.
#27
IMO the Costco sausages are the best, 95% pork / beef :-D

The meat from costco is absolutely amazing, definitely a case of you pay for what you get.

Premium and Lidl don't go.....!
#30
The only thing I found with these sausages was that the skins were very tough.Apart from that I think their meet products are very good.
#31
Thanks, have to say does it matter where you buy stuff from as long as the price is right and the environment hygenic?

my post about 20 walls sausages (the nicer ones in foil pack) for £2.29 was voted minus fifty!!

This trash is plus 40 odd!!

As someone said before, lidl and quality dont go. It is like a jumble sale, stuff everywhere.

Buy the walls ones.

Personally I love Lidl, their deals on fruit and veg are brilliant. Ok, a few things they sell are wafty, The carpark of the one near me is full of bmw, mercs, jags - what does that tell you? it certainly is not an exclusively chav shop.

The people that are disregarding it obviously have more money than sense.
