thanks, looks interesting.

Even the hardcore Apple fans I know are not impressed by this. 720p being it's limit is 2 years old. Only 2 networks run 720p in US and HD is a long way away from being mainstream here. Those with Mac Mini's have been streaming HD content for a while. This is basically a Mac Mini with extra outputs. No DivX or XviD support. Again you are coerced into using iTunes for content.

Too low for the £23 voucher unfortunately, but if you can stack something more on top to make it to £235 ex vat you should be good.
#4
Its not that interesting a product - so it does wireless, 720p?!
#5
It's a step in the right direction, however it isn't much better than my modded xbox with xbmc. The iPhone on the other hand - now that looks awesome.
#6
Thanks for posting the product though.

Also those who hail the iPhone when they see it. Though it does have tons of features, it's not released here till the end of the year, 5 hour battery life, only 2MP camera, £300-£500 with a 18 month to 2 year contract and will more than likely be tied to one network only. Think all the delegates went quiet when hearing that.
#7
yeah iphone looks great - wonder what network its gonna be on here in the UK?

.
#8
Hopefully Orange or 02, I hate t-mobile and voda! lol

It sounds like it is significantly behind a modified xbox with xbmc.

The only product i have seen which can match xbmc as a media player (and does better because it handles hd material very well, something xbmc cannot) is the TvIX.....
[admin]#10
They should sell it unlocked on their site also so that anyone in the world can grab it. It's quad-band after all.

I would hope by the time that it comes to the UK in Q4 that it's a bit better specc'd or it's going to look pants compared to what else will be out by that time.

And why isn't there a front facing cam on it? Isn't iChat the obvious "killer" Apple app for this?
#11
2yr minimum contract on mobile fones is the norm in the US nowadays though... might just be for a year here?!?!
#12
You just know it will be Vodafone. They always get the stupidly overpriced handsets on exclusive long-term deals.
#13
"The 4GB iPhone will go out the door in the US as a Cingular exclusive for $499 on a two-year contract, 8GB for $599." You won't pick it up for less than £500 I bet with a 1 year contract here. Also SIM free, I dread to think of the price they will charge. As for features, I've not known Apple to update products since the keynote speech, so come December the features are going to seem pretty lame.

Well if it is a year here, if it's $300-$500 in the US on a 2 year contract, you won't pick it up for less than £500 I bet, with a contract.. Also SIM free, I dread to think of the price they will charge. As for features, I've not known Apple to update products since the keynote speech, so come December the features are going to seem pretty lame.

naw.... u gotta thing smartfones... like the o2 xda line went for about £100-150 for an upgrade when it just came out... for new contracts, lower than that sometimes even free... i would think the iphone would be taking the same direction...

What does the iphone actually look like, there are so many fake images on the net.

the only thing i dont quite understand is that how can Apple call it the iPhone if Cisco owns the 'iPhone' trademark? :?

This mobile looks HOT, I want one!

I think the price will remain high I recall Steve Jobs saying recently something to the effect that he didn't want yesterdays luxury item turning into todays commodity - such as the RAZR and many other phones. He wants it as a premium (priced) device.

You have to admire the features but at the price & contract term it's going to rule out many people. The Tv thing doesn't seem very exciting, quite unexciting keynote really (no word on updated computer hardware/OSX 10.5/ilife07/iwork07).

Some good pics of the AppleTV here http://www.engadget.com/photos/first-apple-tv-pics/

looks beautiful!! shame i already have xbox 360 to do it all. but if i didnt... what a great idea.
#35
I think I will stick with MythTV and Linux, then I don't have to deal with any of the drm crap flying around in Apple and MS products. As for the iPhone, anyone who is willing to pay that for a phone must be as daft as all those people who brought iPods.

But they'd be paying for a PDA that makes a phone call wouldn't they, rather than simply a phone?

The same way they were able to call their mouse 'Mighty Mouse'. They pay for the rights to use the name.
