[Sorry - this is a report, everything timed out so you haven't got the overly eloquent versions from before]

OK - first time post, long time lurker. Just got notification that Play.com and Game.co.uk are allowing pre-orders for Wii Sports Resort. If you aren't aware of this game for the Wii, this fella is going to be the Wii Fit for 2009 and if you don't fancy paying overly-inflated prices on ebay - get your order in now. The release date is 26/06/2009 according to Play, but from previous press releases it might be early July for Europe so you may only be talking of a few weeks.

The game *does* come with the accessory and it won't just be for Wii Sports Resort. EA Tennis 2009 and EA Tiger Woods 2009 also take advantage of the accessory and by all accounts it makes a remarkable difference in the game play. In addition, Red Steel 2, if it comes out, is rumored to use this piece of kit - so proper 1-to-1 sword fighting!

Both Game and Play have the item for £39.99. Game has 9% with Quidco and Play.com has the RAC 5% voucher (which still does work - just use a new email address each time you claim from RAC and don't re-use vouchers) and 4% Quidco bringing it down to £36.47. Personally, I'm going with Game as I've preordered with Play.com before and they've let me down on both occasions. Game on both occasions have sent the item so it arrives on the release date. Magic.

Hmmm - they've got the RRP £34.99 not £49.99. A lot of online traders did this with the Balance Board last year taking orders at £39.99 and then saying they wouldn't fulfil the orders. Be careful

Nope with shopto the price you see is the price you get. So if you order now for £29.99 and next week they raise the price to £35. As long as you ordered it before the price change you will be change the cheaper price so cold sorry.

Shopto have changed prices before on pre-orders. I might order both, anyway, added £3 voucher making it £36.99 less 9%quidco and £2 Game reward points.

Not much in it but if shopto honour the pre-order then they're still cheaper.

Whats the point of preordering with shopto.net if they are just going to put the price up after you preorder??? At least if you preorder with Game or Amazon, they guarentee prices wont go up but they can go down.

I pre ordered Wii sports resort yesterday for £22.95 at shopto, then I got the email below today.

This email is to inform you of a price change on a pre-order you currently have with ShopTo.Net.

The pre-order details are:

Product : Wii Sports Resort (WII)
Product ID : WIIWI09
Previous Price : £22.95
New Price : £29.99

Pre-order prices can on occasion go up, this is normally only when the RRP of the product changes or if there was an error in the price entered on the site.

As the price of this pre-order has increased, we will not process the pre-order until you confirm this price increase. To do this please click here or log in to the ShopTo.Net site where you will be directed to the pre-order section.

If you want to cancel your pre-order please log in and remove it from your pre-order basket, please do not send email requests to cancel the pre-order on your behalf.

Regards,

AT least they give you the option now... time gone by they'd have shipped this and charged you the increased price.

EDIT : A lot of wii or GAME hating out there if this -83

Nintendo have just announced that the Motion Plus is going to be sold seperately before this game is released. That might have influenced a couple of people.

Can I pre-order in a Game store?

I was thinking this, my wii is soft modded which then makes me worry this will need a system update and the backup launcher installed will then cease to work (I believe) :(

Had a wii since day they came out and a mod pretty much straight away and never a problem, if unsure about updates check forums.

Had an e-mail today from shopto, the pre-order price has now gone up to £39.99 so will likely cancel that and go for this.

*EDIT* Game website now showing a pre-order price of £44.99!
