Product Description
Introducing Kinect for Xbox 360
You are the controller. No gadgets, no gizmos, just you!
Kinect brings games and entertainment to life in extraordinary new ways without using a controller. Imagine controlling movies and music with the wave of a hand or the sound of your voice. With Kinect, technology evaporates, letting the natural magic in all of us shine.
What is Kinect?
Magic Disguised as Technology
With Kinect for Xbox 360, you are the controller. Easy to use and instantly fun, Kinect gets your whole body in the game. Imagine controlling movies and music with the wave of a hand or the sound of your voice. With Kinect, technology evaporates, letting the natural magic in all of us shine. And the best part is Kinect works with every Xbox 360.
Motion Sensor
Kinect uses a motion sensor that tracks your entire body. So when you play, it’s not only about your hands and wrists. It’s about all of you. Arms, legs, knees, waist, hips and so on.
Skeletal Tracking
As you play, Kinect creates a digital skeleton of you based on depth data. So when you move left or right or jump around, the sensor will capture it and put you in the game.
Facial Recognition
Kinect ID remembers who you are by collecting physical data that’s stored in your profile. So when you want to play again, Kinect will know it’s you, making it easy to jump in whenever you want.
Voice Recognition
Kinect uses four strategically placed microphones within the sensor to recognize and separate your voice from the other noises in the room, so you can control movies and more with your voice.
Why Kinect?
Full Body Gaming
Controller-free gaming means full body play. Kinect responds to how you move. So if you have to kick, then kick. If you have to jump, then jump. You already know how to play. All you have to do now is to get off the couch.
It's All About You
Once you wave your hand to activate the sensor, your Kinect will be able to recognise you and access your Avatar. Then you’ll be able to jump in and out of different games, and show off and share your moves.
Use Your Voice
Kinect uses advanced entertainment technology to respond to the sound of your voice. Just say “Xbox” to reveal a series of voice commands. So you’ll be able to control HD movies with the sound of your voice, no remote required.
Endless Entertainment
Enjoy HD movies, music and sports through Xbox LIVE without any extra accessories. Just use a wave of your hand or the sound of your voice to enjoy endless entertainment.
Something For Everyone
Whether you’re a gamer or not, anyone can play and have a blast. And with advanced parental controls, Kinect promises a gaming

So can I just confirm this. As an owner of a 250 slim, I can just plug this in as a peripheral and it will draw its power through the XBox without the need of having to plug it into the mains?

If so, then red hot deal.

Are these new by the way?

Not New, But 12 month warranty, and yes, 250 slim will work fine with just this on its own...

You're fine with the new slims.

These are second hand, as with all goods from CEX.

Would sooner get the £99 one from Tesco, even though this is a good deal, I don't by anything from CEX.
#12
Please please and please use Paypal when buying from CEX.

CEX sell new versions of everything they sell used, they just arent as common.

CeX stores buy for cash: £35.00

That's a shocking price

Great sell price though, heat added

I won't be buying one as I have a PS3 but couldn't you use a universal adaptor with the Kinect, save shelling out £30. Thats if you have the old style X-Box
#16
Can someone who has one with a psu clarify the connections and wattage. I assume that it has a unique connection.
#17
I have the 250GB slim so I'm gonna buy this IF it can work on the PC/Mac (all the hacks and stuff) without the PSU, can anyone confirm either way? Thanks :)

Does anyone know the length of the cable from the kinect?

My tv is miles away from the 360 and cabled under the floow however i can pull the cable through so just want a idea of how long the cable is or can you get a extension...

Cheers.

I bought this yesterday from CEX but with the PSU for £95... I traded in a bunch of old games otherwise the Tesco deal is more attractive.

The Kinect itself has one cable coming from it with a bespoke usb plug at the end - one corner is slightly curved. The PSU adaptor takes the bespoke usb socket and splits, one going to a mains supply, the other turning into a standard usb plug for the old style xbox.

You really have to buy a Kinect PSU adaptor, not sure there are any non MS ones out there yet...

Not sure but I placed mine on top on my tv which is at least 6ft of the floor and it reached my xbox on the bottom shelf of my av stack with ease... so maybe 7ft...

This is a shockingly bad price! It's second hand. You can get them new for £100 with a PSU
#22
You can buy an extension lead yes, I saw an one on Game or play.com or somewhere.
I would say the standard Kinect lead is seven or eight feet long.
#23
you won't be able to use a generic AC adapter easily.
the stock adapter is a fairly standard 12v 1.08A DC adapter, but the issue would be that the AC adapter has the USB plug adapter on it .... so there is NO USB plug on the kinect without the adapter so you couldn't plug it in if you wanted to. It would be simple to cut the kinect port end off and splice in a USB lead and wire a 12v cheap adapter, but is it worth it?
As for the length, I use mine on a projector, which means the kinect is some 14+ft from the xbox. Although I have a newer slim xbox I use the adapter so I can use a cheap active USB extension cable to extend the lead as at the time there were no cheap kinect extension leads.

Interesting. I guess CEX are getting these traded in in their droves to have such a low trade-in price. The general outlook on a casual device like Kinect when released was that it would sell well but be traded in quite quickly due to:

(1) people buying on the strength of the advertising but not realising you need to spend a lot more buying a 360 to go with it; and
(2) Kinect being pretty crap in the first place.

The sooner Microsoft realise this device is not the revolution the 360 needed, the sooner they will get back to making actual core games for the real 360 gamers. Pish.

where can you pick up a psu from?
i have a spare psu for sale if your interested
#26
As your connecting this to a slim and drawing additional power, wouldn't that cause the xbox to generate more heat internally?

I know the new slims are supposed to be alot better, but for the sake of one extra plug I think I may be inclined to use the psu
#27
I've a slim and with the Kinect plugged in haven't noticed any extra heat or noise etc.

The CEX price has tumbled over the last few weeks, from £90 to £80 to £70 for this particular one.

Bearing in mind Game and Gamestation sell it used for £99.99 still - or did last week when I checked.
