Prescription glasses £8.50 delivered @ Selectspecs.

Includes UV coating, Scratch resistance coating and anti-reflection coating.

Offer applies to Single Vision glasses only with the following prescription ranges:

» Sphere (SPH) powers +6.00 to -6.00
» Cylindrical (CYL) powers +2.00 to -2.00

Some of the frames dont look particularly stylish etc, but not bad for having a spare pair. I just bought two of the £8 pairs for £19.50 delivered which I think is bargain.

I have used selectspecs before and it took about 3 weeks altogether for them to come as they are based in Kent but the glasses are made in Hong Kong.

Great value - but i have to add that the cheapest frames are quite flimsy and my order took about 6 weeks.

Might get my dad a pair as he is always losing his glasses and is down to his last pair so be handy
to get him a pair to leave on the car and a spare in the house

If he leaves them ON the car, I reckon that's the reason he keeps on losing them.

Yeah I have they are fine but delivery can be a few weeks as the glasses/lenses are made in Hong Kong. Actually wearing the glasses I got from them before now and the prescription is spot on.

I've used them & they are fine.
I tend to have spare pairs in the glove box & in my handbag, so cheapie specs are just the thing, but they are fine. I also have some sunglasses & they're fine too.
Just trying to decide whether to get DH some varifocals at about £40 so a good deal as well but they warn that buying varifocals on the net might not work out so could be a waste of money, so have just bought him 2 separate pairs - one for reading & one for distance for a total of £13.50(postage of £3.50 just charged once, plus £5 per pair)

Yes, I had some glasses from them a couple of years ago and they were fine.

Might have a look?

How am i to know my size specs?

I have several pairs from them, in different styles, worth the wait, my most recent only took 2 weeks but be patient as there shipped from HK , Good quality light frames & lenses. Why pay more, at this price get several.

Make sure to get your prescription up todate, some supermarkets offer free sight tests (tescos) , you can get your PD value measure at the opticians or get a friend & use a ruler.

I was intrigued by selectspecs so I bought a pair of Baobab glasses for £5 plus £3.50 delivered.

I was surprised to find out that that are made and posted from Hong Kong, delivery took 4 weeks.
But the glasses are good quality, (I've had them 2 months). and the prescription seems to be accurate.

hot thanks

Yeah big word of advice, stick to single vision only, if you buy bifocals or varifocals there is a MASSIVE chance that they will not work for you - varifocal measurements should be done by someone trained, and you need the frame to make the measurement!

Hot - thx for posting
#18
it's taken a while for this to get hot - well deserved!

wow - no good for my presciption but £5 plus delivery for some of those frames is unbelievable value

As others have said a few pairs would be ideal at that price. Will certainly tell my parents who use teh opticians but have very slight simple prescriptions

I just measured up my old ones, good if you've got an old pair if you havent im not sure lol.

I believe you can take glasses to an opticians once you've had them delivered and get them to adjust the glasess fit your face better, I think they charge a fee for this though but I doubt its that expensive

They are delivered from Hong Kong so delivery takes quite a while.

I ordered a plastic frame and the arm was broken by the time it arrived eventhough it was in a plastic glasses case so I complained and they gave me a replacement which broke after a few wears in the same place! I think it wasn't a good design where the arm and frame connected....

I wouldn't recommend buying the plastic frames from them!

Annyone know if you can use a contact lens prescription for glasses? I have a feeling they are different. My contact lenses are -2.75 and -3.

I think it is different when you have an astigmatism or not. Best thing to do would be to check with your optician, see if you can get your prescription and then buy cheap glasses online!

Yeah think that's the best option, I was just being lazy and thought could skip the optician!
