There seems to be a glitch on the site where if you start with currency set as GBP then place your order in the basket before switching to dollars it keeps the price the same so £19.99 becomes $19.99 you can then also use the code 10GBP and it takes the order to $9.99 (approx £6.29) or for some customers use the code FreeFrame to make it $7 (£4.38 approx).

Ive just placed orders for two pairs of prescription sunglasses one at each of the above prices.

EDIT: for those wondering the spectacles (including clear lenses) all come with uv protective coating as standard as well as scratch resistant coating too.

do I have to get a presscription - I usually buy the asda reading glasses 150 o how would I fill out this form or do you have to have a prescription - thanks
#3
Cheers harlz, I assume only way to find out my prescription is to phone the place I got my glasses. Won't be a deal by then probably.

Anyone know if they're good normally? Think my place charge £40 for sunglasses.

Can you explain how to change the currency from GBP to USD please

Thanks, just ordered a pair of prescription sunglasses.

I've been after some cheap sunglasses, if they are any good I will be ordering more.

Don't mind taking a chance at this price.

log back in and it reappears or redo the order in dollar.

Freeframe code didnt work for me but the other one did. Order is in. Lets see if they ship these.
#10
Will these be shipped from their USA store though? If so they could sting you for customs

I'm hovering over the submit button because it looks like they might be sent from the USA if you change the site to the USA one and I don't want to pay customs charges (ordering 2 pairs at £48)

Does anyone know if these will be sent from the USA or from the UK please? :?

No worries Jackboy
#17
I've ordered from these in the past (probably about a year ago), and they came from Pakistan.

I didn't have to pay any customs charges on that occasion.

Also, if you open their website and change to USA, it states - Free Shipping Worldwide.
#18
Oh, well that's put me off a bit coz I'd probably get charged because it's over the £35 customs limit
#19
Copied from their FAQ's:

What is the shipping cost?
Regular shipping is free worldwide. Yes! no charges even if you are ordering from Australia. For express DHL shipping, you have to pay £ 12.00 per shipment upto four glasses. The express shipping charges may vary for certain countries depending upon DHL and FedEx charges.
#20
Yeah their shipping is free, but that has nothing to do with customs, who will rub their hands together with glee as soon as they see my package is worth over the alloted £35 (mine comes to around £48) :x

Bummer!

Is that £48 each or for both pairs?

If for both pairs, would the discount code work twice if you were to order them separately?
#22
Hmm there's a thought, Probably not, but worth a go - thanks

EDIT: Der, I should just order them serparately anyway because it'll more or less cost the same. I was going to pay the $12.99 for expressshipping because I want them for my holiday in 3 weeks, but I'll choose the free option and pray they get here on time

I don't either - so selling tints as sunglasses....is the same as buying a pair of 'Gucci' from Ebay which just open your pupils to the sun....

From the HMRC website

1. When will I have to pay Customs duty and import VAT on goods purchased on the Internet from outside the European Union (EU)?

Import VAT is payable on all internet shopping bought from outside the EU where the value is above €22 (£18).

Customs duty is payable on imported goods with a value of €150 (£120), although payment is waived if the amount of duty is less than €10 (£7).

These limits do not apply to alcohol and tobacco goods where both excise duty and import VAT may be charged.

Different rules apply to goods sent as a gift, see also Q4 below.

Hopefully these should be exempt.

I just had a new examination and ordered the glasses from the high street optician, so I thought I'd try goggle4u to buy a spare pair.
A couple of days before this post I ordered a comparable pair of high-index glasses comparable for $60 only.

I also bough a pair of photo-chromatic ones (no tinting or photo-chrome in high index available for my prescription) for only $37.
I bet that the goggle4u ones arrive first.

As far as I know, the prescription lenses should be except from VAT and import duty (talk about a medical necessity, if my eyes were much worse I'd probably qualify for a free dog). Hopefully no duty to pay since the frames amount to only £26; besides the website noted that spectacles are now mailed from inside the UK.

Oh yeah, nicely spotted Harlzter. Don't know how I missed that it's big enough lol - thanks! :-D

they are always mega cheap. I have used them a couple of times and been very happy.

Anyone seen the nice big ones in the photo of sunglasses advert on their site? I can't find anything like it.
#40
Can anyone point out anything that would make good sunglasses, trawling through these pages of similar looking glasses is getting dull now and ive not found anything yet. Dont like the way you cant just seperate male and female frames either.
