I might go for this one myself - has anyone here played it and can recommend it? It seems to get good reviews and the graphics look nice.

Details: Prey tells the story of Tommy, a Cherokee garage mechanic stuck on a reservation going nowhere. His life changes when an otherworldly crisis forces him to awaken spiritual powers from his long-forgotten birthright. Abducted along with his people to a menacing mothership orbiting Earth, he sets out to save himself and his girlfriend and eventually his planet. Prey is serious, dark story, based on authentic Cherokee mythology. Themes of sacrifice, love and responsibility are explored and the story dives into emotional territory not yet explored by similar games. In Prey, gamers enter an unpredictable world where nothing can be taken for granted. Most of the game takes place within a living ship, a giant entity that can sense and react to Tommy’s presence. Prey makes use of Joseph’s Campbell’s renowned story structure,

Wish my PC was powerful enough.
Waiting until September to get a new machine, hopefully with the money I've saved here, but we'll see ;)

I would download the demo first before buying this game. A lot of running around in spaceships upside down. Quite nauseating at times, personally I like the massive outside levels in Farcry better.
Great eye candy though.

Hello
I just looked on metacritic.com for reviews - there are a lot of reviews scoring in the 80s %, which probably means "buy it".
Tempted myself now.

Cheers

I've bought it to try it out. If I don't like it, eBay will usually give me back 80-90% if I sell it soon enough!

Thanks snedger.

Ok. When I got this game and tried to get it going, I was staring at a black screen, couldn't open task manager, couldn't alt-tab to desktop, couldn't do anything. Tried a few restarts, no joy. I was getting quite miffed by this stage. In desperation, I hit all the keys on the keyboard, holding down alt, cntrl, shift whatever I could think of, and the zone alarm window popped up, I clicked accept and the game started. Messed with a few of the video settings, went back to windows and tried to open it again - it wouldn't work again! Same black screen!!! So I didn't turn it on for a couple of weeks, and when I turned it on 2 days ago, it opened in windowed mode (one of the settings I had been messing with) and there was a green zone alarm box this time! I clicked always allow, and everything has been perfect ever since.

I've been playing it, it's really rather good, but was quite hard to get used to the disorientating gravity effects, but they are quite spectacular. The weapons are interesting, love the heat-sensing sniper function. The baddies are getting tougher and tougher as the game goes on, as it should be.

All in all, I recommend this game, but I also recommend to turn off Zone Alarm before starting it up for the first time ;)

Anyone still interested in this can pick this up instore at Gamestation for 20 pounds.

I've played the demo, it's got some nice ideas but overall it's far too similar to Quake4 in design which put me off a bit. The gravity and portal system were interesting but the actual combat itself despite all involving 'alien' guns really didn't seem anything different.

Well, the "combat" where I was flying round in a little spaceship was different.... I even had a tractor beam!
