Though I'd post this here. Cheapest seen, purchased today and the sound quality for the price blows me away. A friend recently purchased an LG soundbar with built in sub for just under £100 and it doesn't come anywhere close to this.

Priced between £69.99 and £120+ elsewhere.

HDMI ARC works perfectly. I did have to reset it once, but it's working perfect now!

It did also need a firmware update :)

The HTL2163B SoundBar has been designed by Philips to deliver a deep, faithful, room-filling sound that will enrich your home entertainment experience.

The 120-watt SoundBar has an elegant low-rise profile that blends seamlessly into any home décor. No need to purchase extra speakers, the virtual surround sound uses spatial algorithms to deliver the same sonic characteristics that occur when using 5.1 Dolby® Digital Surround Sound. Furthermore, you can enjoy an immersive experience with the external subwoofer, delivering thunderous explosions and warm deep bass.

With Bluetooth® connectivity, you can connect and stream audio from all compatible devices without the inconvenience of cables. The Philips HTL2163B is compatible with TVs, BD/DVD players, gaming consoles, MP3 players and many other audio entertainment devices. The HTL2163B also supports USB connectivity, so you can enjoy content straight from your USB device with seamless playback through the soundbar's high quality speakers. With the line and auxiliary inputs, you can enjoy your favourite music with a single cable, using your iPod, iPhone or any other music player.

The sub is not wireless, it plugs into the back of the sound bar! Only the sound bar plugs into mains

What is HDMI ARC?

It stands for Audio Return Channel so it basically means that the TV will receive video from anything connected to the sound bar but, that same HDMI cable will also allow the TV to send audio to the sound bar.

Is there a converter I can use to plug into my normal HDMI plug in my tv to make it HDMI arc?
#17
Is it better to get a same brand tv soundbar rather than mix? i.e. is it optimised with matching brands or is it nominal.

Argos has this for £69, in case Tesco goes out of stock.

Worth upgrading to this from the Sony HT-CT60BT?

Can anyone comment on the sound quality of this? Any bluetooth issues?

I have actually experienced some Bluetooth issues. It seemed to just randomly DC after a while.

However sound quality is insane

I have updated firmware, but not actually used Bluetooth since. I didn't intend to use it.

I have this soundbar and sub. And the sound is amazing!!! Lots of presets or can have your own. Good deep bass from the sub, and good amount of connections. I have my xbox one connected via optical. And sky Q via digital coax. Though the sky Q is going through an optical to coax converter. But still no sound issues. I would definitely recommend

how easy was the firmware update?
Simply put the file onto a USB, doesn't even have to be formatted or anything, simply drop it in the ROOT, plug it in, load up USB source, switch tv to the HDMI port, press a button sequence and it's done!

Its 2 x 30 w speakers and a subwoofer of 60W ie 2.1 channels

however it claims to have some Dan RadCliff " spatial algorithms" to make it sound like a 5.1 .

Personally I would go with a 5.1 set up ( ie 5 speakers and a separate woof )and pay it bit more.

I don't know if this is available in store or just click and collect ; as everyones sound perception varies try and get a demo before buying

can you provide the instructions because i cant find them on the Philips website!. mine just says USB error... I am having NO issues with ARC and BT so is it really worth upgrading the firmware?

So, hooked mine all up, but... no sound. oO

My TV (Philips 55PUS5501) apparently has HDMI ARC on all of the USB inputs.

I've got my XBOX One S in HDMI 1 and an HDMI lead running from the sound bar to HDMI 2 on the TV.

When I select HDMI 2 as an input, it's just a blue screen with waves on it and when I select HDMI 1, the One S is running perfectly, apart from there's no sound...

TV ARC (HDMI) to Soundbar, then hook your Xbox to the TV... Just because your TV does ARC via USB does not mean the soundbar will cater for it. Hope that helps?
