I can find it under combos, but the product link goes here and the info link goes here. Is this me or the Scan site?
#2
The buy button works though!
#3
Think its the site - all their "combo" type deals seem to do that.
#4
£227.92 if you have to pay for delivery - still seems a decent deal.
#5
Theres also a Samsung DVD drive for £12.33 on the Today only page.
#6
It's not very clear but I have a feeling what you get is a bag of bit's. Components to assemble. Looks as though you will need a CD/DVD drive + an operating system of somekind - may be a linux will save you some cash. I do not know how much these would cost if you shopped around - motherboard is a bit basic but for the price what do you expect. Good Deal Overall, but I would check to see if you have to build it yourself.

single-channel DDR2...sloooow (compared to dual ddr3, which isn't much more)
#8
Great price, and in this modern age you can do without a CD drive and just install from USB.
#9
Good deal.

Components add upto £241ish when not on DOTD.

Case is very good on it's own with 7 x 80 mm fan bays and:

w/ 5.25" & 3.5" DEVICE TOOL-LESS CLIPS
w/ I/O TOOL-LESS CLIPS
w/ HDD RAILS KIT

not sure were you got that info (mate down the pub??)

but it`s wrong, it`s dual channel if you bother to look,

and unless your biulding a gaming rig, the differance in ddr2/3 is not noticable.

You would need a new MB hen

How does this compare to the Ebuyer deal?

doh...you're right, good sir!:|

Dunno where I thought it was single channel...in that case, that should make this system much better in the RAM stakes than the Ebuyer one, with 2GB of single channel DDR2.

Also, with a branded mobo and better PSU, it seems a much better deal all round!
#16
Anyone find something similar but a small ssd instead of the 1tb drive?

they are about the same,

you get 2gb memory extra with the scan deal,

but ebuyer comes assembled with a dvd-Writer,

so all depends if you have a spare dvd-Writer and can build a pc.

the 500w power supply is good on the scan deal if your planning a mid-low end gfxcard.

About to order but got a couple of questions.

As somebody mentions above, is this something I would have to put together myself?

There is another deal (the one above this one) where you get
Intel Pentium Dual-Core E6500, S775 Wolfdale 45nm, 2.93 GHz, 2MB Cache, 11x Core Ratio, 65W + Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L iG31 Express, S775, PCI-E (x16), DDR2 1066(OC)/ 800 MHz, SATA II, Micro ATX + 1TB Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3, SATA 3Gb/s, 7200rpm, 32MB Cache, 8.9 ms, NCQ, OEM

...for 124.54. I just want a second computer to run Windows 7 and Microsoft office 2010 for the Mrs. Will this do the job??

That's just a CPU, Mobo and Hard Drive in that bundle....you'd need to add Case, PSU and RAM at least

For this deal, I think you have to build it yourself....not sure though...it's not too difficult, what with youtube tutorials and the like

I must admit...I've been very stoned this weekend....I'm not usually this bad! X)

I've clearly admitted my mistake above...

Great deal but the buyer would definately need to build it. It isn't hard to do though. Heat added.

Robbie you didnt list a hard drive.

very good price. for people saying "OMG NO DDR3" well if you're that tech orientated get out your wallets and go for i5/i7 - how do you expect a pc that costs ~£250 to have DDR3 along with other high end components. Thats taking hot uk deals a bit too far.

Here's a suggested build...just ordered...

Scan - 4GB (2x2GB) Corsair XMS3 DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600), Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 9-9-9-24, XMP, 1.65V
£57.76

Overclockers - Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2H Intel H55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 microATX Motherboard
£63.99

Overclockers - Intel Pentium Dual-Core G6950 2.80GHz 3Mb Cache (Socket LGA1156)
£58.74

Engine Total: £180.49

Also ordered some decent quality components for that engine (below). You can save by using value components for about £70-£100 extra, bringing the total system to as little as £250!

Scan - Silverstone SUGO SG01S-F, Silver SFF micro-ATX Case & ATX Size PSU! (w/o PSU)
£63.43

Scan - 400W SilverStone Strider aPFC PSU (Titanium black colour), Temp Controlled Fan (22 dBA min)
£36.37

Total: £280.89

Optical and Hard Drive on top of that, but I've already got those.

A system there that can be upgraded really well in 2- 3 years time, has decent core components, can overclock well and would be a good basis for gaming (with a suitable decent PSU and Graphics Card)

Lupeto socket 1156 is been replaced next year......

It has already been replaced by1366...it is 1366 that is being replace next year
#36
dcx u are very right

but u can overclock G6950 up to 4.2ghz

u will have a good pc capable of playing most games and do everything else with no hands (lol)

u can always pass to the kids and then go to a i7 to overclock some more....

4 +/- £280 its magic

No it hasn't, you have no idea what you are talking about. 1366 came out BEFORE 1156, they are designed to exist together, not replace one another and both are been replaced next year by sockets 1155 and 2011.

My bad...irrespective, I think this represents better value for money than a 775 system. I'm sure 1156 will be around for some time to come (5+ years), whatever the replacement
