this deal is not new, also this is out of 'real' stock everwhere.

as mentioned u can get 10 pounds off from richer sounds, i found this one for 209 pounds before rs price match but i dont have the link handy

I wanted to get this about 3 weeks ago but i missed out of the last one in richer sounds. Not worth paying more than 200 pounds for it tbh

If you want a reciever with emphasis on music get the yamaha ax763 which is also out of stock at the moment unless u want to buy it expensive (should be 299.99), if you want one for movies then the Onkyo 606 is the best one to get (again around 299.99)

I spoke to some dealers and they said the sony warranty is not as good as the others and they get a lot of problems with them, not sure if this is true

not a hot deal for me am affraid

Just a quick look on Kelkoo to be honest but......depends what you want but the top link is definitely one i would consider........7.1, 2 HDMI inputs, 150w per channel, Dolby True HD, DTS Neo 6...the only thing is that if you arent running from a C.D and its mp3's you might notice the distrotion more because of the signal strength.....

snip

The signal strength has nothing to do with it. Let's be honest, can you really detect distortion when listening to mp3s? Mp3 is not a lossless compression algorithm I know but the artefacts it produces appears as compression of the dynamic range. It's the same whether you play it loud or soft. Most people accept this for the convenience of mp3. If you don't like mp3 compression don't use it but it is not your amp's fault whatever power it has. The problem is inherent in the recorded medium.

Can i ask which pioneer you would recommend as best Value/Perfomance so i can look out for a deal as looking at getting one myself

Thanks

reading the specification on the Sony site it says this amp is 8ohms, does this mean i would be unable to use 6ohm speakers? Like the Jamo: A102HCS5 kit.

The quoted speaker impedance is a nominal value only and will vary according to the frequency of the signal it is asked to convey. The amplifier is optimised for delivery into an 8 Ohm load, if you connect a 6 Ohm load it will have to deliver more current to produce the same audible power. More current means more heat but that said, if you don't drive the amp and full whack then it's likely to be just fine. It's unlikely that for normal listening levels you'll ever want to have the volume up in the danger zone.

i have the model down from this one and basically everything in the living room goes through this.........PS3, Media centre, DVD, T.V, etc, its just brilliant......i was a little upset with the output per channel but for a bog standard lower line Sony Reciever its what i wanted for my first one. Definitely a begginner model if your new to the whole thing. I think the next one i buy will be a pioneer just because of more wattage per channel.

Anyway....................good deal imo, just be careful that you dont expect excellence.........

Digital Direct are selling this set for £639.01 with 3 Year Warranty, (Delivery is £39.99 though!)

There are quite a few retailers selling this set for £679 including Richer Sounds, if you had a few pence. Why not get John Lewis to Price Match for a 5 year warranty also!!

:whistling: over the moon i ordered mine in time... they put the price up to £399
If your basing you views on the appearance of these speakers on the pictures in this thread then do be aware they come with grills which hide the inards. They really look better with the grills on.

As for the guy who said there are better cheaper systems around and then can't even bother to actually suggest any better or cheaper systems. :whistling:
i have these speakers ... excellent quality and excellent price!
good speakers but they look like marmite

Yes, but then it also says:

* Please note: all of our prices include VAT, Packaging and delivery
to any UK mainland address.

Therefore you call them and according to their website, they will package and deliver it for this price. You can even quote them this on the phone!

I rang them up and they said that they can't deliver Denon. Apparently, if you're a registered Denon dealer Denon don't like mail order to be done.

Really friendly and helpful guy though and bizarrely it turned out that we might be in some way related. Small world or what?
Voted hot.

I think it says that by default for all of their offers. Give them a call and try it.
Gets my vote good find.

I looked at that deal before posting and it says this in it...This model is not available as a mail order or website purchase. Please phone us on 0115 9622150 for details of price, availability, delivery or installation advice So unless you live right next door to the store so you can pick it up it will most likely cost you quite a bit more then 4p.

Sony and Samsung are not in the same league as Pioneer.

No need to PM me, you can say what you want to say infront of everybody on the forum.

LOL ok. Sony and Samsung are not in the same league as Pioneer. I messaged you incase u didn't look back at this thread but if you want to make it sound confrontational then go for it

ROFL, you are touchy aren't you? There is no need to be like that, I take it that you saw my reply as confrontational hence the edge to your reply. My comment was in regards to the fact that its a forum and thus both our opinions are valid and when aired openly on the forum they are for the benefit of everyone.

If you go back and read my postings I never said that Pioneer were not a great make, I wouldn't have paid the premium for Pioneers in the past if I didn't recognise this fact would I?

My problem with the deal was more to do with the £110 price tag but you seem to have focused in on the wrong thing, I was receptive to the Scan deal as the extra quality and features would be worth considering paying the premium for.

You could but Pioneer really are the best and its worth paying that little bit extra

Sorry don't agree, once you go beyond the dirt cheap makes then you will be hard pressed to tell the difference without an Oscilloscope. Makes such as Phillips get rated by the mags as highly as 'tier one' makes twice the price.

I say this from experience as all my DVD players so far have been Pioneer, starting with a £500 one some years ago, until my recent switch to a Samsung Home Cinema system.
