£170.99 @ Amazon
It was this price about a month ago, but is back in stock and reduced again if anyone missed out before. I've got one and I think it's great.

Sure it can only be good for the money otherwise there are tonnes of better options if you are real coffee lover.

Much as it pains me to ask, which options?

i get these use beans as opposed to pods. i have a nespresson pod machine , obviously these are more expensive but what are the big advantages of this over a pod machine ? also can it do various drinks like cappuccino etc ? also where is the best place to get beans and does it work out much cheaper in the long run.

thanks in advance guys :)

The quality is usually better with a BTC machine and good beans, and you can try any beans you want. This particular machine doesn't automatically froth milk, it has a steam spout but you'll need to froth it yourself.

With Nespresso you get a much more convenient experience, but you're limited in terms of coffee choice (I find the vast majority of third party pods are not that good so I always go back to the originals) and it usually works out more expensive.

In my opinion, it's a choice between convenience and better variety / quality.

My Gaggia Brera has been in use for around four years, brewing around 10 shots per day. Last calculations showed cost circa 10p per shot(machine, bean and electricity cost included). I use Taylors Rich Italian (around £11/kg from Amazon) which I favour though many will say only use freshly roasted, YMMV.
Having tried various pod/capsule options, I find the extra maintenance to be a very minor inconvenience.

try rave coffee for beans. they are freshly roasted. the Italian job is around £10 per kg plus postage.

I went to look at this machine in a local store. next to all the nice shiny, more expensive machines. this one looks completely crap. it is plastic! looks very cheap. just sayin. anyhow, I've decided to wait for January sales to get a decent looking one for a tad more.

Hi we have a bean to cup which we changed from a nespresso.. machine as. Ice as the bespresso was and convenient it costs a fair. It for pods .. unless you buy very large amounts at a time .

Bean to cup is the next best thing compared to a proper espresso machine .

And butt grinder setup .

But for ease of use a bean to cup is great our one is 5 years old paid £300 for it and it still work although leaks a bit of water now .

It's made on average 6-10 double shots everyday so around 10000 shots ... we buy a mix of coffee beans .

Tried rave ... really nice but not my personal fav . Also do a nice Colombian bean and Guatemalan bean for £3.99 for 500g ...

The milk frothing is easy as ... get a good well made Italian jug ... also avoid a large jug as it's harder to froth milk in them especially for one or two cups .

This price is definitely worth the money .

I would very much prefer to keep my butt well away from my coffee, thank you very much! oO:D
Agree on the rest though!

£225 now (glad I bought it yesterday after seeing your post)

if you want a real Italian espresso this are the kind of machines you need, I use a gaggia machine, and segafredo casa coffee, and I've been drinking all my life, segafredo for me best coffee for a real espresso

Anyone who's after one of these please keep an eye out for Warehouse deals - managed to get one for £155 'used' but just an unopened customer return.

Is Butt Grinder that app for meeting men?
Didn't know you could get apps on these machines - that's another huge advantage over pod machines.
