Times are hard, and if like me youre have to cut down your foie gras to a lb a week and your caviar to a mere 3 tins youll be looking to fill the void. Iceland has the answer with princes stewed steak at only £1 a can. Serve with curly fries and marrow fat peas for that touch of elegance.

Tesco also have this at £1.50 until 16/10

Found at Waterloo (London) store.

That is what you call a luxury meal "Serve with curly fries and marrow fat peas" Oh how the other half live.
Shame Kerry Katona has got the sack from Iceland, she would have been in her element with a few tins of that.
But dont let the dog or cat see you eating it, they will think you are trying to steal their food.

Hot for the description alone...

No....the dog will be in fear of its life. You don't actually think its beef in there do you?
#4
Love your description... just makes me want to rush out & buy a few tins... lol

Actually we take this camping. Great just to heat up with a tin of potatoes.
Maybe not something you would want to eat at home but great when camping and this is a very cheap price for it.

About 65% of it is beef.

About 65% of it is beef.

Are you suggesting that the other 35% is actually dog?

haha we do this, tin of tatas, tin of carrots, and a tin of this, and you've got yourself a quality stew! Well maybe not quality....but cheap and cheerful anyway. Plus I'm from Sheffield and therefore add the correct dose of hendersons relish so you can't actually taste anything else

75% beef says I.

its no filet mignon, but after a night on the town whack it over some chips and you've got a quick and cheap meal that will fill you. and the stuff usually goes for around £2, so give it a go, it can only kill you once!

I agree with those saying it's ok. The knockers all eat in Claridges you know!:roll::roll:

Add 1/2 tin toms, bit pepper and whatever you fancy. Cover with a bit of ready made puff pastry. Stick it in the oven. Quick and tasty pie.
#12
If you peel the Princes label off, you will find a Pedigree Chum one underneath.

There is actually more nutritional value in pet food:w00t::w00t:

I personally rate Pedigree Chum higher than princes stuff. It just seems to be a brand that puts it name to low cost food products from around the world. I suspect this stuff probably comes from some seedy, awful factory in south america with incredibly horrific abbatoirs (compared to normal one's being just horrific). I tried a Prince's curry sauce once. How could they get it so wrong. Of course the stuff is safe to eat on one level because its cooked to the point of sterilising everything as well as removing all the goodness before putting in the tins. If you eat it on a regular basis you'd probably need to go on vitamin and mineral supplements.

Tried to give some to the cat.
She kicked me out the house.

Why all the negative comments, what do you eat if you think this is rubbish?.

we do that too, makes a lovely pie in 20 minutes

Stewed steak (STEAK!) and chips, Superb :)
#23
Infact lets start a campaign for offal, all that tripe and other sh*t I ate as a kid never did me any harm, harm, harm... What day is it?
#24
Amazing! Can I assume all these ppl who turn their noses up at this stuff must be veggies or never eat anything which contains cooked meat or offal......or ever eat out, or ever eat takeaways.....or any food containing meat that's been prepared by somebody else.......or do you rudely ask your host where the meat came from whilst eating?Honestly.........there's nothing wrong with it.
#25
I'm loving how people are getting really defensive over a tin of meat.

I think most of the comments are just a laugh...you know a little bit tongue in cheek....which is ironically probably two things that make up the the contents of the tin!

I ve eaten this stuff in the past...and its edible...even tasty(ish)....but it does smell and look a bit like dog food.

I ate worse than this when i was a kid and so did most of you , and your parents and their parents , didnt do them any harm , in fact you probably eat worse than this when you buy a ready made pasty or sausage from the chipshop for a quick dinner, or pay for your kids school dinners , or works canteen dinners which tend to be run on the tightest of tight budgets.

Voted hot , its cheap and itll fill you up.

Is it just me or is this about the snobbiest comment ever made. "Oh how the other half live". Absolutely disgusting! Who exactly are you to question the food people choose to eat? Granted the majority of the comments are made in jest but this one just sounds like blatant snobbery. If you're so well-to-do what are you doing trying to save a few quid on a deals website?

hot deal H&R

Well said Joel , yea if they are so superior then why are they on this site ! hell theres nothing worse than a tight fisted rich person . Its amazing this debate over a can of stewed steak , I will never look at one the same again ! Its like 1980's class war all over again !
When I have been on tight budgets I have bought it in the past and its great for making a pie or as someone suggested making a big stew or pan of scouse (sorry Joel ! )
#36
Nothing worse than a tightfisted rich person? What about hitler?

They're probably rich because their tightfisted. You don't get rich by giving money away.
