I googled it, Japense use it for Sishi too :)

Princes website says this though

" Princes is fully committed to fishing methods which protect the marine environment and marine life"

I've no idea how they compare on price, but for anyone who's interested..... according to Greenpeace, the big two in the UK (John West and Princes) come bottom of their league table and we should be buying Sainsbury's, M&S and Co-op own brand tuna instead:-

If you are can't find anything to watch on TV and think this deal is good I would recommend wathching one of the best programs I have seen in a long while about the people who work in Asia processing our cheap food: [URL="http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00kpd2z"]BBC 3, Blood, Sweat and takeaways on iPlayer[/URL

If you can try and buy FairTrade.

Not only are Princes quite un-environmental, they recently branded their 'pot snacks' (Chicken Tikka etc.) as "new recipe" (not "new improved recipe"). If you check the ingredients they just reduced the amount of meat vastly - it's now like soup

My son puts away tuna like there is no tomorrow, but it's been hard to keep affording it since the prices have gone up so much in the past 18 months. I bought a couple of these Princes offers and the cans sat and sat in the cupboard. Eventually he told me that he hated Princes, as it is very fishy. I didnt believe him, so I made myself a sandwich and.. ugh.. very fishy indeed. I usually associate that with shops' own brand cheapest label tuna.

So, back to Tesco own brand, and stocking up on that when it's on offer!

Thanks for that info! I can't get out to shop so i rely on my Tesco deliveries, yet they are not responding to Greenpeace.. :( I'm going to ask my son to start buying tuna from the Sainsbury#s near his workplace. He will soon do it when there is none in the house!
