That's a good price, nice one. Shame I don't shop there but hot deal from me anyway :)

Princes' tuna has been in the news a lot recently, as although they say they are 'dolphin friendly' they have apparently refused to sign up to the new sustainable standards which are protecting other marine species, including Bluefin tuna, which all the more reputable supermarkets are moving to for their own brand tuna.

If these are only 80g doesnt that make them a third of the size of a normal tin, thus this is 1 tin fot 99p? I'm not 100% sure so wont vote but think its a cold

Agree, people obviously voting hot like I did before realising it's only 80g:roll: Not hot at all.

Someone mentions that tuna in Tesco is 59p, well less than a year ago it was only 28p. I asked not long ago why it had gone up by 100% in a year and they couldn't provide me with an answer. Yet Asda and Morrison's have hardly gone up at all in the same period, staying at around 55-60p.

It is a smaller size tin (regular is 185g), but we use these quite regularly because if only 1 person wants a sandwich for lunch or a portion for a salad they are an ideal size, as there is never any waste or having to stick half a tin in the fridge that we inevitably throw away 3 days later, if we have used the bigger sized tins.

Have checked MySupermarket and the next cheapest for branded tuna this size (3 x 80g) is John West for £1.63 at Asda, all the other major supermarkets are £1.88 or above for three tins in this size. Sainsburys do there own brand for £1.25

I must eat big sandwiches because I eat most of the 185g tins and what's left the cat enjoys. :)

Heat added --if they become extinct ---that is nature and evolution in action :)
Line cast ....waiting for a bite.

pic is a bit misleading because they look like the 185g tins...

i think there is an unjustified obsession with tinned tuna, there are loads of other tinned fishes, ie mackerel, kippers, sardines, tuna tastes crap out of a tin anyway, go fresh.

That won't happen, they use skip jack tuna in these tins and are very sustainable , It's Blue fin tuna that is in trouble and getting rare it's mainly used in Japanese (sushi), and mostly eaten by rich people including Celebrities who tell you shouldn't foxhunt etc,
Skip jack tuna is very common and is the main tuna used in tins, so eat away and blame the Sushi eaters.

I'm sorry but from what I've read recently it looks as if you are misinformed.

Apparently the different species of tuna swim together, and so the nets used to catch skipjack catch bluefin & yellowfin tuna plus sharks, turtles, etc. As many people have said, you wouldn't drag a net the size of a few football pitches across the savannah in Africa and not care what you drag along in it, so why should we do the same in the ocean?

I doubt line-caught is perfect either, but apparently it is better than the alternatives.

The facts are obviously so bad that Pret have stopped selling a lot of their tuna sandwiches now.
