This game literally had me hooked. It's an awesome little hayao miyazaki-ish story, and the main game is played through some point and click exploration, but the real draw are the puzzles and riddles. There's HUNDREDS of them, and each one is taxing. You come away feeling good about yourself after playing.

S-M-R-T!

:P

A good game. I bought my wife a copy and she played it to death. Funnily enough, I got it from Movietyme too.
#2
I cheated from time to time :P there's a fantastic walkthrough site (not gamefaqs, btw :P). Some of those "move blocks to get this one out" puzzles utterly killed me.
#3
voted hot- it's a quality game with some really good puzzles to solve

Excellent price - me and my hubby were hooked on it until we'd completely every puzzle... and don't forget, the longevity is increased by there being a new puzzle you can download via WIFI every week!

Great for everyone who likes riddles / puzzles...

HOT!

Hot price,

Thx for the heads up on the weekly puzzle XD

good game good price.

Very good game, OK price.... (I have never bought a DS game per se, just a 2GB MicroSD and R4DS cartridge (google it if you don't know what this means, it may save you hundreds of pounds!) )

Hehe joey... I buy any game that merits buying. This game certainly does.
#11
Yep one of the best games on DS very hot

I imported it a month ago for £20, fantastic game and happily for us its part of a trilogy...

A trilogy?? Best news ever, we're hooked on this now but er're just near then end and I feel like I do when I'm near finishing a good book.
#16
Ohyeah. There's more layton to come. It'll be three seperate stories however, as the original doesn't leave a cliffhanger ending or anything.
#17
Bought it in Feb in Orlando for about the same price. What a game! Can't wait for the next installment and am tempted to get them early too! Had to use the walkthrough too many times though, not that clever.
#18
it can be imported from various sites, part two is available from playasia.com

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-9g-77-2-49-en-15-professor-70-1pnx.html

It would work on a UK DS (DS is region free) but i'm not sure whether or not the dialogue would be English though??

looks like a very good game from the review i was reading the other day. they gave it about 86%

Hey, I'm not doing too bad - I've solved 93 puzzles now, and only had to resort to a walkthrough for two of the solutions (one of them being a bl**dy pitcher puzzle!:x)

EDIT: 95 puzzles solved :)

Did you not use the hints for the pitcher puzzle? They walk you right through it.

It was number 78 that I got stuck on - just couldn't get my head around it - kept pouring backwards and forwards - even with all three hints I still couldn't do it! Bit of a mental block I guess. Maybe I wasn't given enough juice as a kid?! ;-)

In only had to use a walkthrough for one of the puzzles, and it was the last "get the red block out" one... I must have spent about 3 hours trying!!

The whole game took over 15 hours, so excellent value - plus with the ability to download new puzzles for free every week...

Also, when the 2nd game comes out, it will give you a code to put into the first one, to open up another section of puzzles, I believe!

Potential Spoiler Alert !
Thanks for that reply JasonMason. I was looking to get this version here from HMV Japan (www.hmv.co.jp/product/detail/image/2643768/) but also don't know if it comes with english dialogue or commentary.
According to the walkthrough site, the next episode in the trilogy is out, maybe in Japan, but he say's he won't post a walkthrough till it's out in the states. (http://professorlayton2walkthrough.blogspot.com/)

Now £17.99 :-(
#26
Anyone know the cheapest price now? The site I use is UK based so doesnt have this game...
#27
The japanese version does NOT have english audio or text.

Avoid it. Very few games from japan have an english option. Only the first three ace attorney games and a few others do.

As for the price increase, That's pure poo!

Thanks for that Super..... I'll wait for the next installment. Any alternatives in the meanwhile?

Did anyone actually order this game from movietyme? I've ordered it and it was dispatched over a week ago but it hasn't arrived yet :-(
