Project Gotham Racing 4 is the end of Bizarre Creations' involvement with the series, and the developer goes out with a bang.
The first thing that deserves a mention has to be the inclusion of those speedy two wheelers. Nope, we're not talking about penny farthings. PGR4 sees the inclusion of the much-hyped motorbikes! These blighters are seriously durable on the course, and enable players to pull off some tasty wheelies and stunts. Getting them right will allow you to bank some much needed 'kudos' which can be traded in the virtual store for new gear and vehicles.
Also new to the series is the new weather system. You'll need to keep an eye on conditions, because weather can change mid-race. It might not sound like a big deal, but since a bout of fog can obscure bends and put you entirely at the mercy of your opponents taillights or ice and rain could send you careening all over the place, you'd better be wary.
The Project Gotham online service has also been ramped up. Now dubbed 'PGR On Demand', the service features a filesharing service that allows racers to upload photos and videos of themselves in action, making it a fuller offering than Gotham TV ever was.
