Build, share and play your own user-created games. Customise your own worlds with Project Spark for Xbox One, featuring SmartGlass and Kinect support.

Project Spark on Xbox One is a fantasy-themed action game that will spark your imagination.
Create big environments, set the time of day, build characters with their own personalities and create enemies to fight. There's an infinite number of ways to play, build, and share.
The only limit is your imagination.
Users will utilize the Kinect to issue voice commands and Microsoft's SmartGlass to create, building different types of terrain such as rivers, grasslands and mountains. Commands can also be issued for times of day and night. Users can add objects and build towns at will.
Everything in Project Spark has a "brain" and their behaviors can be changed. In a gameplay demo shown during the conference, a town was built and populated with heroes and enemies, with each being given its own AI behavior.
Community-created items and objects can be shared with other users and added to your own game. Users can also modify their game world on the fly, and can create events such as setting up battles between characters.

I thought this game was free??

... Erm, this is supposed to be a free to play game.

"Project Spark will be available to download for free, with in-game purchases that will enhance the creative gameplay experience."

Isn't this game f2p?

This is basically like paying £30 for a starter pack. The game itself is Free to play so buying this would be optional. Besides the stuff the community makes is often 100x better than what the actual developers put out (Most of the time) so I'm having a hard time seeing the value.

Wait closer to launch so we can get more details and a closer look at what is included in this package but for now i'm not voting but if I did vote it would be cold. Sorry.

Grabbed some details from Polygon on this -

The final version of Project Spark, Team Dakota and Microsoft Studios' game creation platform, will be available worldwide this October, Microsoft announced today.

The software, which lets players build their own game worlds with their own set of rules, will launch in the Americas on Oct. 7, in Asia-Pacific territories on Oct. 9 and in Europe on Oct. 10.

The Xbox One retail version, the $39.99 Project Spark Starter Pack, will feature a collection of premium in-game content. This includes the first sci-fi pack "Galaxies: First Contact," "Champions Quest: Void Storm," the character Sir Haakon "Hawk" the Knight and the first episode of an "epic campaign adventure" developers have planned for the title. All content from the Starter Pack will also be available to download in both the Xbox One and Windows 8.1 versions.

This had so much potential but think LBP 3 will be having my money this Xmas. This has cash grab written all over it. Absolutely gutted.

Thanks for the deal, being on the Beta it's pretty obvious that action RPG's are going to be the first step for most people.
I'm going to be working towards a side scrolling shooter or puzzle title next though. It's also great to hear that all the hundreds of Beta built games are going to available to play for everyone else from day one.

They're marketing this all wrong, as the comment comparing it to Little Big Planet confirms! LBP is a simple tool for kids. Project Spark is an incredibly complex creation tool which down the line will hopefully allow for both template creation and full programmable integration for indie developers too. This sold me on the Xbox One and they need to market it away from casual gamers, because no casual gamer is gonna wanna spend the hundreds and thousands of hours it'll take to make even a relatively simple game with this!
