makro sell a rechargeable version for about £18 which would be a lot less hassle to use......

Annoyingly on Monday I paid £29.99 for a similar one from Halfords, does a fantastic job though !!

Maplin do however have replacement bonnets, 1 wool, 1 cotton for 98p for the 2 which is a great bargain - I ordered 10 stes for £9.80 ! should last me a while.

Is this because the polisher might rip the present car bonnet to pieces? :giggle:

Bargain price... thanks Cat :)

Be warned - if this is ROTARY you may do more harm than good (pressure on paint, swirl marks etc). If it's RANDOM ORBITAL then great!

it's not going to have enough power to cause any problems to the paint mate, it's not going to be spinning fast enough to burn the paint. it's more of a buffer than a defect remover. plus at this price if you put any pressure on it it's going to slow it down even more. good for putting a quick coat of polish on and taking it off, nothing more nothing less. good price.

Would it work on giving a nice finish to bald heads?!?!?

Dead right. I wouldn't put one of these things anywhere near a car with reasonable paint.

Goddsdammitt! bought one of these a couple of months ago full price - nevermind! I'm 99% isure ts a random orbital and if you use it with some top class materials (like Mcguiars) you can turn your car from a dull matt into a showroom gleam. be warned it does take time - it took me a whole weekend to do my fiat coupe - would have taken a week without this little beauty! highly rated - but make sure you get a good supply of bonnets to go with it!

I got this for my dad last year, he tested on my car rather than his BMW. :(, IMO this was a waste of money.

I got a similar thing from woolworths for £17.50 branded RAC. I have used it for polishing and waxing and so far the applicator bonnet has already started coming appart. The thing is not too good for taking off wax or polish (I found it easier to do it by hand first, then use the polisher), but is ok at putting it on. You can only use it on the bigger parts of the car, roof, bonnet, parts of the door etc - the rest has to be done by hand.

Not bad at the price though.

Bought this and am now returning it, its absolutely useless. I've detailed cars for a long long time and I can safely say that this is slower than using just your hands.

The bonnets spin when put on the paintwork so don't actually get any pressure down at all :(

Save your money and buy a good one instead :)

Bought one of these, from halfords 3 years ago .. used it once... put it in the bin... complete & utter waste of money.

Left swirl marks all over the paint finish.
Ended up having to hand T-cut the car, and then rewax it to put the bloody thing right.

Wrecked the paint in a couple of hours, and spent the next few days putting it right.

Don't touch with a barge pole.
