These are the classics/platinum versions, basically meaning a different case, game is exactly the same!

You are Alex Mercer, a shapeshifter with absolute mastery over your genetic structure, stalking the streets of New York City, searching for your past.

A secret war is brewing in New York. First, battle below the media radar, then, watch as the virus spirals out of control and the government seizes the media to stop the spread of information.

Face an ever-growing army of infected creatures warped and changed by the virus. As it spreads, more and more of New York falls under its control. The virus overwrites a creature's existing genetics; warping and changing their form into something else, something planned. As the virus gathers its army, rush to discover the secret behind it all; the one thing that can stop it all before the city falls into ruin...

Good game, and you can use one of the walkers/hut 10% vouchers to get it even cheaper.
#4
The case looks horrible on my shelving so voting cold, would rather pay £39.99 for proper version.

Do you have a link where we can find the Walkers website and how it works? Thanks.

Couldn't you hide it in a drawer, out of sight???

Ignoring peoples issue of the platinum case there has been very mixed opinions of this game... Can people give an opinion on the game?

Don't forget to use a 10% off voucher from http://www.walkers.co.uk - brings it under £10 :)

Yep -

It's a basic story about Alex Mercer who is trying to figure out what is happening to his body - who did it to him and bring them to justice.
People are becoming infected and zombified by some virus - there are super mutants rampaging in the city. Cue story about mad scientists/ army cover ups etc etc etc

It's an open world game and plays very similarly to Infamous. Story mode is fairly long - but this plays similarly to any sandbox game - with a handful of side missions to keep you occupied.

Personally, I didn't like the story all that much and started skipping through the latter stages of FMV.
it was fun tearing through infected zombies and blowing up buildings with tanks - some of the games are quite gory. I also enjoyed flying off skyscrapers (though I have knackered my R2 button from flying in this game).

It's an enjoyable game - just not mind blowing. I'd probably rate it 7/10.

Currently playing through it at the moment got it as part of a 2 for £15 local currys deal ages ago.

Its good enough to have kept me playing for 11hours so far, isn't the best game in the world, initially felt a bit like a poor mans infamous, but once I got into it a few hours am really enjoying it

I just don't understand this thing about cases. Would you really pay £30 extra just so you can have a clear/black case? A case that is only going to be displayed so you can see the spine? Will it matter?
If you look at anyone's DVD/Blu ray collections - their spine's are all different - so what's the issue here?
Perhaps I should start flogging replacement cases for platinum games on eBay.

Good idea. Shame the game is only meant to be fun for about 10 mins - but a real good ten mins.

In a nutshell this game is Hulk Ultimate Destruction from 5-6 years ago but with a different character in place of the big green guy.

Yet somehow, this game is worse than the 6 year old Ultimate Destruction. It's not awful, just average at best.

Just about worth it at this price.

I agree, I rented this game and played for a day but just didn't really like it.

Good price though, heated added for the deal.

Got the PC version a while back. IMO, tied with Just Cause 2 for the best sandbox game on the market. Plenty of powers, a ridiculous amount of ways to kill people if you feel like it (powerbombing an old lady off a skyscraper never seems to get old), and an OK story (depends if you like the whole conspiracy theory angle, which the game is heavy on). The story is mostly a flashback over the previous 18 days, with the main character explaining to someone else what's been going on (in very nice CGI cutscenes, incidentally). On the downside, the bosses are pretty dull, the strike teams are just plain annoying, and the backstory is only established through random encounters with pedestrians that you have to absorb - they're very easy to kill accidentally! Looking for the last few got pretty frustrating because their appearance isn't predetermined, but that's only if you want 100%. Plenty of collectables and side missions, and the fun-factor, I'd give it a 9/10.

Fantastic game! 9/10 would highly recommend.
#19
Wonder why they chose the old style classic design instead of the new one ?
#20
