A simple 180 degrees protractor. Available in blue, red and transparent varities. In the Rayne's Park/New Malden branch they had a box of them hidden away from the back to school promotions. The price ticket was white, so I don't think it was a price cut or promotion.

On the back it says:

080501
T.PROTRACTOR 180 DEGREES
EAN: 5051399666310

took the words right outta my mouth:)
[sigh]...oh happy memories..

About once every 3-4 years I have a use for one of these.
My two are now very battered,I will check my local tesco, next time I'm shopping.
Has to be hot for the price, memory and simplicity.

Is this HD compatible?

It should be in the back to school section really! It would sell better there, as these can easily get broken in a pencil case. Probably 99p at WHSmith.
#6
They are about this price in Asda too - but they are marked down in there. They are either 6p or 8p in there.
#7
voted hot...do they still use these in schools these days?
#8
what only 180?

needs to be at least 720 never mind 1080

You have to be kidding me? What next? Rulers?

If someone needs a protractor then I think they would have paid the 20-something-pence they usually are. Maybe it's just me, but this is a complete waste of time....

eeeeeeeeh... big blackboards, tables crammed full of chewing gum underneath, school dinners. You can look at it two ways - 8p for a simple protractor, or 8p for a reminding of how truly crap school actually was (and probably still is for those unfortunate to be at that stage in life)

I'm not sure people are coming at this deal from the right angle. Hot :-)
#12
Ha this seems to be measuring up quite well ;-) wonder if people will become bored of voting hot now its passed 180 degrees! I'm guna vote cold to try and get it back down! Ur guna have to find a 360 degree protractor if u want more heat from me :p

I think the cheapest 360 degree protractor was 89p. I was actually looking for a ruler, but didn't find any worth their price.

BTW, I think it's fun how Tesco doesn't set their own minimum price on products. :prop:

I absolutely hated maths at school, it didn't matter how many times it was explained to me I just couldn't take it in. Thought I had escaped it all after leaving school and then I ended up having to do numeracy modules as part of my college course a couple of years ago. Hated it just as much second time around, lol but excellent price for a protractor :-D

Funny comments. How about a pair of semi-lethal ninja compasses for real 'those were the school-days' memories.

Do kids still use all this stuff at school?

Voted hot, as I'm acutely aware of how good this deal is.

The reason these protractors are reduced is because, from September, schools will be teaching the new metric trigonometry, in accordance with yet another unwanted EU regulation. There will now be 100 degrees in a right angle (400 in a circle) so protractors will be calibrated accordingly. As my stepson needed one, I asked about these new metric protractors recently in W. H. Smith and was told that they were due in shortly and would be priced at seventeen shillings and sixpence each. :whistling:

Did you hear in 2016, the EU is abandoning imperial time. From now on kids and adults alike will be taught metric time

Were there any slide rules hidden away too? :whistling:

Wasn't it mentioned the other day that pencil sharpeners are on restricted sale 'cos of the blades? Doh!
#29
You'd be mad to buy this. The new OLED protractors will be out soon offering a true 100 degrees per right Angle*.

*Compatible circle required - may require new value of Pi.
#30
The only other cheap items next to it I think were two tesco value rubbers for 18p and some similar triangle rulers for 25p.

I don't think I saw any loose sharpeners or slide rules!
#31
omg you have got to be kidding me

is this for real???

I just asked my daughter if she wants a new protractor for school. She tore her attention away from popgirl for all of two seconds to ask "Whats a protractor?"

Sigh......
