PRS SE Custom 24 Tri Colour Sunburst Guitar, £399.00 at DV247, Free Delivery

NigeNige

f you're lucky enough to be able to afford an American built Custom 24, then this might not interest you. For anyone else, I can highly recommend the SE (Korean) range.

Finished to a high standard, superb action wide thin neck – nice electrics and a very decent trem – prices seem to start at £499 elsewhere with many people retailing these at £599. I'm a recent convert to the SE, and I wish I'd invested much sooner. You'll feel like a champion every time you get this puppy out. All the other SE's I've seen include a gig bag, which isn't mentioned in the listing – but I've asked the question via email and I'll update the description once I have a reply.

UPDATE: Gig bag is included. Although it's showing as out of stock now, I was told to call for more info as it may still be possible to order. Let me know if you have any luck.

I know PRS guitars are supposed to be great quality well built good playability and sound - but I think they look horrible tarty and soul-less.

    Like rich men's tarts.

Give me a real guitar - the types that made the music I love Strats LPs Yammy SGs Ibanez etc

    Just my opinion -:p
    Nige
To be fair, my Ibanez is one of the tartiest guitars in the world :-) You might find the SE's aren't so offensive, but point acknowledged. I still love them though!

Heat added. Although, I've got to stop looking at this deal posting now, because I don't want an SE, can afford the real thing, and I'm feeling the hunger badly.

A USA? You lucky thing... affording the guitar isn't the problem for me, it's the ensuing divorce that would ruin me. Let us know if you get a good deal! :-)

Have tried these in a local music shop in the past. Really nice guitars play well great action. Think they were at least £200 more in that shop as well.

slightly off topic but, I've been practising for around 2 months and i'm struggling with getting my fingers to change chord all at once rather than one at a time! anyone got some advice on how to cure this?
    Swaleso
Practise! It will come with time - i used to find pretending to change chords while nowhere near the guitar helped, although it did draw some funny looks :)

Like Swaleso said - practice practice practice. If you can afford a good teacher that would help - but there are loads of teach yourself guitar books out there that would help.

Boo - now not in stock. Probably a good thing mind as god-knows where I would have got £400 from! :D

I had one of these a while ago, bought second hand from a skint student (whats new??), it played incredibly well, but I have never been a fan of the humbucker sound, so it had to go. I'll stick with my 1978 Telecaster, heavy as a tank with a fat, clubby neck, but I love it !!

However, if anyone has a Lake Placid Blue USA Strat with a maple neck I could be interested !

Good deal, although it doesnt have the birds on the fret board :p

    excellent price

I used to have one of these...the Singlecut SE with P90 pickups. Gotta say, it was an amazing guitar for the money...played great, looked great, felt great, sounded great...I've played guitars twice the price that didn't feel as good as the SE. (got mine 2nd hand for about £250 iirc)

yeah not a fan of PRS's. Played a SE Tremonti in a shop once, was really nice for the money but there was just something nigglingly clean about it all... no balls. Gotta be Gibson! Pre 2008 of course. Weight relief? Baked maple? get out! GET OOOUUUUTTTTT

Just looked at the picture and realised it does have the birds. I thought the main aesthetic difference between SE and the top end models was having the birds rather than the dots? Obviously theres a lot more actual difference than just that though.

The higher end models have alot of power. I have both a high end prs and gibson and the prs always wins hands down for me. It can be aggressive when you want or very smooth and clean. The pickups are great and you just need to know which ones to select when you need them.

The main difference is the top. It's curved on USA's and flat on the SE. Birds started appearing on 25th anniversary models last year.

Thanks for the advice, unable to afford a teacher unfortunately. I've been using Justin Guitar online. Just feel like i've hit a brick wall the last few weeks don;t seem to be improving.
