If buying an out of date console is your thing, then yes.
#4
Given ps3 is coming out soon, do you think ps2 will get cheaper than £50?
#5
Probably. Although surely not by much?

PS Any idea if it comes with a game?

:giggle: :giggle: How about £49, this Thursday @ Asda :giggle: :whistling:

lol with a game i know they are doing fifa 2007 for under £20
#8
They are doing PS2 games from £5.97 delivered and I think PS1 games will also work in the PS2.

If I wasn't stuck between getting a X-box or PS3 I might opt for this PS2, but then again we already have 2 in the house and I couldn't compete against the kids, they know the cheats, I don't. Heat added as very good value, it is even worth considering as a present for family & friends.
#9
Is this for the normal PS2 or the PS2 Slimline?
#10
Still xbox for 49 + 4 games rools- probably best deal ever. Also, XBOX is more than console- it can be a GRAET media player...
Check XBMC.

Regards
Chris

great find, thanks
#12
ps2 slimline
#13
It wont get cheaper than this, not even the ps1 got cheaper did it?

Certainly worth it because games will be selling for it for a couple of years I would think and there are some classics you can get for this too.

The old PS1 is dirt cheap now
PS2 are 'backward compatible' as in they do play PS1 games, but with next generation consoles on the market now, I think it's only a matter of time before these stop being made.

That being said, this is a good find, heated and repped XXX
#15
for comparison, game are selling the ps2 with a single game for around £95 upwards

i've recently been given an old ps2, but i might still get this as it's the slimline one, which also has a network port...hmmmmm must stop spending money...
#16
blimey, sounds like a good deal to me!

Yes the reason PS1 are dirt cheap now is because PS2 have been around YEARS! In 5 or 6 years time maybe the ps2 will be dirt cheap, but for the next 3 or 4 years I doubt you will find a ps2 this cheap!

If you get yourself down to local markets etc people sell them second hand for £60 and even £75 (one I saw at the weekend!) and the games sell for about £6. If you look on PC World at their games in price order you occasionally find their games listed under £5 and Tesco quite oftenly have their sales to get rid of not so old games for £10 and less.

Bit of a remarkable price gap that the new one's going to be about £450 and they're now selling off the old one for £49. I would imagine the price difference doesn't reflect the technology differences. Maybe the Blu Ray on the PS3 is bumping up the price so much.

I'd prefer it if they sold the PS2 for more and used that to off-set and bring down the price of the PS3. But then perhaps this is the only way they can shift PS2's now.

Great deal and if I wasnt moving house I think id be visiting Asda tomorrow.

I second Columb/Chris - buy an XBOX!!! Since transforming my Xbox into the most versatile media player in existence, the fact it also plays Xbox games is like an add-on. I picked up an 80gb harddrive for £17, and have loaded it with movies, albums, games and pictures, including retro emulators for Megadrive, Nintendo 64, Snes etc (all converted to Xbox controller). You can easily upload and play xbox games from the harddrive, so if you rent a game and havent quite finished it - no probs! Everything is via a brilliantly designed and slick menu system. I can't stress how amazing a modded xbox is. The thought of buying a PS2 seems silly at any price.
#24
Hope nobody is trying to shift a 2nd hand PS2 on eBay at the moment! This time tomorrow there'll be a deluge of new ones (and its half price listing day).
#25
is it the silver or black ps2?
#26
yay thanks, excellent timing my son broke his a couple of days ago and is still grumpy, i'm sure a shiny new ps2 will help put a smile on his face

You can't. Second hand or nothing at all it seems.

Probably not new but with the PS3 backwards compatible with the PS2 I'd expect a flood of second hand PS2s to hit ebay around march.
#29
Thanks for this. My son has wanted one for ages. Will save it for Easter instead of all those eggs he gets which I then end up eating. Voted and rep given.

gutted my 5 year old sons been asking for one cause hes started playing on his brothers but we can't get to asda till teatime and I bet we miss out.
#31

Things have certainly changed. I can't imagine the idea of a 5 year old having his own console or buying things like this other than as a for the whole house type item. Surely he'd need his own tv then as well.

Not a personal dig by the way. I suppose kids just expect so much more nowadays.

Do you really want me to go head-to-head with the kids? but thanks for the site, I will pass it on to them. Rep added for thought.

Great price,voted hot hot hot.

Great find, great price, voted hot !!!.

With Okami and FF12 out this is a bargain.
Its still a good console and if like me you havent had one for 4 years theres a hell of a back catalogue to go through.
#38
Both my kids now use the wireless controller which seems like a good idea, with what you save on the deal you could push the boat out and get a wireless controller.:giggle:

You think they should be overpricing the PS2 in order to subsidise the PS3?? I certainly hope they don't do that! Anyone keen/dumb enough to buy a brand new console for that kind of money can pay full price!

Anyway, this is a great deal. Shame it'll be sold out in no time to people who're buying them to put them on eBay (making them a few quid and Royal Mail rather more). Good luck to anyone who actually wants one for themselves

Give your local store a call I bet they would consider putting one aside for you for the day if you asked nicely.
