As long as it costs more than £200 it's cold.
There is no excuse for current generation consoles to cost more than £200.
#2
Quidco does not make it around £228. Quidco makes it around £221. I dont think i can edit it on the original post.

Sony make a loss on each console they sell. Why are you against them being over £200 when you get a lot for that money?
#4
Is this actually all that cheap?

I haven't shopped for anything PS3-related in quite a while, I agree that £200 should be the barrier these days for a current gen console though.
#5
Forgetting it's going to be one of the first 3D blu-ray players and get's constant updates.

Mix that with the games it plays and £230 isn't that bad a price to pay.

Hopefully it will come down to £200 soon though as they have started turning a profit on these now: http://http://www.techradar.com/news/software/operating-systems/windows-8-leak-hints-at-kinect-functionality-699604

It isn't a terrible price and my first one cost me £300 but blu ray lasers are a lot cheaper these days where as at the console's launch a standalone BD player cost the largest part of a grand.

Also (correct me if wrong) for an extra £30 or so you can buy an addon that turns it into a DVR, which rumours have it will be receiving an update to allow HD recordings.

I think as allround entertainment systems PS3 are mint. I haven't got one yet but everytime a deal like this comes up the temptation kicks in....

Not a great price for a 120gb.

I would definitely agree with that, it's just a shame they don't support NTFS and native x264 matroska.

Seems the cheapest deal around, so have some reluctant heat; I agree that the barrier for current generation consoles should be £200. Still, this is a brand new slim PS3...

Rubbish comment.
For all the technology you get, it's well worth it, and you get more in the box than other consoles.
Even the older generation consoles, such as the PS2 were sold for much more than £200.
So just save up your newspaper round money for a few years and wait for the PS3 to get to £100

Wasn't the PS2 £299 at launch and then £199 RRP within 12 months of release? :whistling:

Nice price. Shopto were selling around this price recently, but it was the older slim model: CECH-2003A - which is a 40nm Cell and 65nm RSX Processor - meaning it's not as cool or power efficient as the latest model: CECH-2103A - which is 40nm Cell and RSX Processor.

I recommend you all to check Zavvi are selling CECH-2103A model before buying.

look every1 for £221 thats the cheapest so far, so u should be voting hot, not cold becuz u think its too expensive or cant afford it. this is a hot deal. think!

I think they did initially, but likewise DVD drives became cheaper to mass produce.

We should be seeing sub-£200 PS3's now and that is really the only way they will shift them to Move's core audience.

£230 fo a 120gb model, cold im afraid, i bought 250gb from sainsburys with 2games Heavy rain and world cup 2010 for £285, sold the games both for £62 which would make the console price down to £223 for a 250gb version, the offer is still on

All these people saying cold cold cold WHERE CAN I BUY IT CHEAPER??? If nowhere then this is a hot deal is it not.

I'd say that's quite a bit of effort for some people to go through for a few quid though. :)

yh probably for people who don't buy and sell stuff often but don't forget you get the 250gb version for this price and you save a few quid, if you wanted to base it on a 120gb than you would save more than £60

Not sure but I remember my friend pre-ordered his PS2 and it cost him around £400 haha. He did the same for the ps3 too.

I love my ps2 and ps3 but I would never pay £400 on a pre order because I know if I wait a little while it will be a lot cheaper and I never get a console as soon as it comes out. I wait a while when a lot of good games will be out for it :)

Nah, PS3 is still outselling the 360 everywhere apart from the US, and has been for over a year. No need to drop the price by too much.
What's £200? A few days wages. It's not much of a price difference between this and a similar equipped slim 360.

To be fair, anyone looking to buy a new console should wait until Christmas I think. There are always some cracking deals on. I wasn't planning on upgrading my 60GB launch console but last year in October, Amazon had a scorching deal where you could get a 250gb slim, Infamous, an HDMI cable and a choice of 2 games from some of the most recent releases including Fifa 10 and Need for Speed shift all for £269.99.

I went for 2 copies of Fifa 10 and sold them both at £30 each. Infamous went for £20 and the HDMI cable for £5. I saved £85 so the 250gb slim worked out at a bargain £195 :-D

Of course, I even sold my 60gb PS3 at £250 on ebay (it was in absolute MINT condition) so I basically got paid to have a better, slimmer model. I know most people can't be bothered with selling off extras after purchase and some people are impatient when it comes to new releases, but if they give it time they can save a decent amount of money.

Same goes for the new Xbox 360. It's going for £200 on its own at the moment but come Christmas, there will be some awesome bundle deals. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw limited edition Halo bundles of it either. I reckon you'll be able to buy it with 2 top games for £200 around the holidays.

It is bad if there's only a 1 year warranty and if you use it as a play that disc drive isn't going to last long I agree ps3's are stupidly overpriced
I think there should be 2 years warranty minimum having said all that I am looking to buy a ps3 today and tbh i'll just go to gamestation or game
