£247 if you were to trade in the games at CEX for cash!

250Gb PS3 with dualshock 3 controller and a choice of 2 games from 4 offered below -

This offer started yesterday

Games are -
2010 FIFA WORLD CUP - released yesterday
Heavy Rain
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
GOD of WAR 3

I went to blockbusters to see if I could get the £259.99 deal with GOD of WAR 3 but no where had stock, eventually found this at Sainsburys with 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP that only got released yesterday and a choice of a couple of games if you did not want them you could trade it for a very decent price. Seems the best current deal for a PS3 250Gb.

I chose 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP and Heavy Rain which were £39.99 each and you basically got these both free as the console came up at £284.99 and deducted £79.98 for the two games. Hope this is useful for others.

cheers

Does anyone know if Sainsburys offer an extended warranty? I'm looking for a new PS3 but I want to get some sort of insurance after my 60GB phat died
#2
This is one option but not cheap https://secure.warrantyex.co.uk/WarrantyEX/products/playstation3-insurance
Our 60Gb broke with the YLOD and Sony wated £131 for a replacement and 3 month warranty. We had it from the 1st day PS3 came ou so not terrible but annoying. The new model hopefully will last longer and is much better spec, you have to balance cost of warranty against buying a new one in a few years if it were to break!

What about this?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/YEAR-EXTENDED-WARRANTY-CONSOLES-%C2%A3150-%C2%A3250/dp/B000KNCB22/ref=sr_1_23?ie=UTF8&m=A36BUC7O2QEX4D&s=electronics&qid=1272751304&sr=1-23

Apparently it is really 2 years (+1 from Sony). Don't know much about how good it is or any other details than Amazon have.

apparently there is a more efficient 2100a model on the horizons in a couple of weeks, so if you want a more efficient PS3 and less prone to YLOD then it is best to wait. I only know because I was looking to buy a PS3 myself and I was told to wait for that model.

I dont get enough use out of mine to need the extended warranty

Bit of advice though, dont waste your time with the new FIFA, its dreadful.
#7
No I would not go for a warranty either, if you get at least 3 years out of a machine then trade it in and get a new one if you are worried about it.

I just rang up my local Sainsburys and they said they only do bundles with the 80gb PS3.
#9
Give them a call back as they are not right.
How do I insert a picture, anyone tell me please as I have the reciept as a jpg?

Thanks n0v I picked one up with Uncharted 2 and Heavy Rain. If we call the games £30 each (although they are £40 instore) it's £225 for a 250gb Slimline that's not bad in my opinion. Although right after I brought it I heard a mate had just sold a brand new one for £150 which he had got in a contract deal! Nevermind! Heated.

Thanks, thats as I see it. It was for my son anyway and he wanted fifa 2010 world cuop so it saved 30 - 40 quid anyway. Heavy rain we can get 30 quid for trade in so all in all not can and 9 months more warranty than Sony could offer for a 60Gb machine that is refubished!!!

I don't think individual appliance cover is worth it. The newer models are more reliable and £70 a year is a lot dosh for a £200 machine. Half the time these companies find an excuse not to pay out also.

I'm not sure if people realise but the retailer is responsible for goods after the manufacturer warranty has run out. The Sales of Goods Act covers goods up to 'a reasonable amount of time'.
When pressed, manufacturers stated that their goods should last at least 5 years, and retailers definitely don't want consumers knowing this.
The retailer always has the right to repair or replace but, whatever the goods, they have to be faulty to be covered. The fact that the PS3 60GB has a well documented fault definitely strengthens everyone's claim.

coolestaj, have a look here and good luck http://www.which.co.uk/advice/understanding-the-sale-of-goods-act/your-rights/index.jsp:thumbsup:

Wasnt there someone who used the SOGA on AVF and managed to get his 60gig console which died after the one year warranty replaced with a 250 gig slim?

The YLROD is so common that you get loads of faulty PS3's on ebay, you would have thought that Sony Like Microsoft extended their warranty to 3 years to fix for free the dreaded Ring of Death syndromes.

Definitley worth contacting consumer goods and looking into an exchange through SOGA.

Hi, thanks but i purchased my PS3 from Virgin Megastores so I'm guessing theres no hope? I have been on the look out and I think the amazon insurance might be worth it, so will wait for a deal from them. Does anyone know when the new model will start circulating?

I work for sainsburys in the games department.
we offer a 1 year warrenty, so if it breaks or doesn't work within 1 year of purchase you can return it and get a new one or refund. NOTE: you have to have your receipt of purchase to do so.

After the 1 year. all problems are dealt through sony.

Sorry but that's not true. I suggest you have a look at the Sales of Goods Act as well. It's the retailers responsibility but everyone assumes it's the manufacturers responsibility.

You clearly haven't any idea about the Sales of Goods Act....:whistling:
