Makes me laugh it really does, not only is this the only launch consoles thats been freely available on launch, there dropping the price the day after launch.
I feel sorry for those saps that qued up all night to get one of these babies, when you could have just walked into the store in the morning and picked one up....hehe

Those saps bagged themselves free 46" Sony Bravia HD TVs and a taxi home - wish Id been a sap and gone! :w00t:
When you get free publicity, whats a few Tv's thrown in for good measure.
I even like the fact Microsoft didn't see fit to drop the price of the 360 to compete with the launch of the PS3, they knew what would happen and saw no reason to compete.
I have always been a Sony fan, and i'll buy in a month when there £300
Kev
Oh and with the dropping the price thing, it's just a price war between companies as is expected. The fact is, if Microsoft had released enough 360's for demand then they would also have been dropped in price quite quickly because every shop wants to outsell it's rivals and if that mean by knocking a little off the price that's what they will do. Why do you think Tesco are selling bikes for £35 at the moment? It will take people away from Argos to buy the same quality bike at half the price and make people look around Tesco at what else they have to offer etc, it's all business!
If anyone can point me in the direction of cheap Blu-Ray movies inc postage please do as well! I really want to see what this machine can do! The games look fantastic in High Def, need to see movies in it too though!
P.s. Watch out with lx direct, they have a nack of offering and reserving the rights to not give what they offer. For instance they occasionally give out codes which don't apply to electricals etc, so read the T+C's before jumping in!
those first 100 saps in the virgin megastore queue ONLY. I wish I was one of them too. Might as well feel sorry for the rest though
Only if they were in the 1st 100 in London, no-one else anywhere else got anything - in fact if they'd waited 2 days they could have saved £26! I agree, I wish I'd been at the London event, but anywhere else. fugedaboutit!
new rules on there concerning selling uk ps3.
it is always nice to know that a company who thrives on capitalism can alter and stifle free trade when ever it feels threatend. another great publicity trophy for the nice sony people. 1st they ban selling of foreign ps3 now they restrict trade on the uk console by ordering fleabay what to do.
Due to the high demand and limited supply of the Sony PlayStation 3 gaming systems, eBay is taking strong measures to protect both buyers and sellers within our community.
Once the PS3 has been released throughout Europe on March 23rd, 2007, you must comply with the following requirements in order to sell one:
You must offer PayPal as the only payment method.
You must be PayPal verified and link your eBay account to your PayPal account. Find out how to become PayPal verified. If you already have a PayPal verified account, you need to link it to your eBay account. Find out how to link your eBay and PayPal accounts.
One-day listings are not allowed.
New sellers cannot list using the Buy It Now (Fixed Price) option.
In order to list more than two PS3 consoles you must have more than 50 feedback, of which at least 98% must be positive.
We thank you for your understanding and we appreciate your continuing support in helping to keep eBay a great place to buy and sell.
Regards
The eBay.co.uk & eBay.ie teams

I'm with you, it's still over £100 too expensive, even if it does run Blu-rry (one of the two possible movie formats).
Best to wait for the £100 price cut in October that everyones on about.
...actually I've got a PS3 its pretty cool, loving it so far, but all consoles are cool, lets all get on! If youre silly enough to buy a PS3 for £400 with less games than the xbox, and being forced to have the BRdrive like me thats fair enough, its your money. If youre silly enough to buy a 360 + Wireless adaptor + HD Drive + Memory Card adaptor + 12 Months Live + Battery charging kit + Anything else Microsoft can think of to make more money in smaller installments god knows how much youve spent on that lot, who cares, is your money! Lets not argue there's too much fighting and war in the world already...
This is why you can't sell football tickets on ebay, clubs have made it clear to ebay that if they are found selling their tickets they can be taken to court over it, which means ebay have to be very strict on who sells what, and that's the way it should be.
I have a load of football tickets in my drawer which could sell for a good couple of hundred each if I went to the right people, ebay being where the right people are to mug off, but it just doesn't seem the right thing to do! And i'm glad ebay are getting told what they can't sell on there and having to stop this.
Another example with football tops is that if a seller is found selling a Tottenham top from Thailand or Hong Kong without saying it is not official they will have it removed if you complain to ebay, because it's illegal. Should happen to PS3 sellers because there are a lot of people trying to make money out of nothing and con people into buying with payment methods that can't be refunded, hence ebay saying paypal only.
The sellers should be banned from ebay in my opinion.
In all fairness, as good as ebay can be, theyve never been a particularly moral company - their fees and paypal fees ontop are testimony to that! :x Its weird that theyre trying to take the moral highground on that issue yet still ripping off sellers every day. When's that new Google equivalent coming? I heard it would rival ebay?

buying a physical electrical item is completely different compaired to a ticket to something that is not physically 'there'.
you can own a ticket to a concert, however you can still be refused into the concert venue, the concert could be cancelled and it is used only once.
the console once purchsed , is yours to do with what you want. as far as i know, the laws stopping ticket touts do not apply for people hanging around outside computer shops, asking if someone wants to buy a ps3.
