Be careful, it is 10% OF THE DIFFERENCE,

£299 - £269.99 is a DIFFERENCE of £30.

10% of £30 is £3, not £27!
#16
Yup its a bit misleading

Means the PS3 is £269.99 in PCWorld

Good deal if you cant wait for amazon to deliver though!
#17
They've offered a free HDMI cable for ages now if you add it to your basket, I've seen a couple of posts already on the £269.99 price, this is just an extension of those or highlighting the fact that those very same deals I saw posted also offered you the cable for free if the shoppers went to the ps3 40gb page and looked down at the deals and offers shown. So not exactly a new deal...

Remeber HDMI cables can be brought with equal quality for about £3.

And Microsoft appriciate that you have brought a new console by putting one free inside the boxes of the elites, where as Sony want to fleece you for another £20.
#19
does the PS3 have any USB ports at the back > or are they both at the front?

Do all 360s come with wireless Lan these days? they were about 50 - 60 quid. Its free on all PS3 I believe. Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo all want to screw as much money out of you as they can.

It is a bit tight not to supply a £3 cable though.

I believe all 360 do NOT have wifi (including Elite)
The Wifi add on is indeed £54.98 at Amazon

When you bear the lack of Bluray + lack of wifi to the PS3, the PS3 offers good value
(i have a 360 and am very happy with it by the way, its hardwired into my wireless router..)
But at 269.99 i'd take the PS3

Most people used a wired connection, and use a game console for playing games...

I do not want wireless and blueray forced onto me at my cost.. I want them as options, if I choose to buy them..

I download my movies and stream them in HD to the 360 rather than paying £20 for a blue ray disk, which is looking like the losing format anyway.

So you use a PC ANDa 360 to watch movies ...

This is murder, everytime I decide on either the PS3 or Xbox 360, another poster comes along with some good information that sends me in the other direction !.

I would be tempted by this deal as I looking to by a new HD projector and as would fancy the blue ray movies, but as chiptivo mentions, I could download HD movies anyway, I also have the New slim PSP, so that gives me some large screen gaming with Sony, as it stands I am more in the Xbox camp right now, but I will hold off untill the sales really start, hopefully this site will be making sense by then.

Get a PS3:thumbsup:
It may cost a little more but it is completly worth it considering it plays blue rays (which is actually the WINNING format at the moment), has built in wifi, has a bigger hard drive, allows you to play videos from its hard drive (or a flash drive etc), has free online play, has a web browser, is more powerful and wont get RROD. You can also install different operating systems on it (which doesnt void the warrenty).

Somthing else you should think about is the fact that 360 joypads use batteries or a battery pack (something else to pay for) meaning the joysticks are heavey. PS3 Sixaxis controllers on the other hand have internal batteries which you charge by plugging into a usb port. I was suprised by how light the Sixaxis is, it weighs about the same as my cordless mouse.

The overall quality of the PS3 just feels better aswell, with little things such as touch sensitive power and eject buttons.

I also think the PS3 has better prospects for the future. The 360 has been out a lot longer than the PS3 meaning developers has had chance to exploit its hardware, yet the younger PS3's games are on par (if not better) than the 360's.

You can pick up a cheap HDMI cable for less than £5 so I hope that isn't the thing that swings it for any muppets out there ;)

(You don't benefit from quality hdmi cables over short distances)

Whatever,,,,,,

This seems to be the thinking behind all ps3 owners, thing is they don't ever mention the GAMES which when I last checked, was the main reason to buy a GAMES CONSOLE....

Also, most of what you said is opinion and speculation....

You go an get off on your power\reset button pushing while all us 360 owners are playing the best games going.

I live in the here and now, all PS3 owners do is look to the future......hopeing....preying....that 2008 will be THE YEAR for the PS3....well hope away....we don't need to :)

Of course it's the MAIN reason, i just listed some OTHER reasons.

Some of what I said may be opinion, but the first two paragraphs are fact.

What games? Most of the current best games are cross platform anyway...

Im not hoping or preying for anything, im more than satisfied with the current selection of games availible, its just nice to know that games like GT5 and MGS4 are on the way.

For another £30 I would (and did!) go for £299 at Game with Uncharted: Drakes Fortune and Smackdown 2008.

Don't really fancy Smackdown, but it's new so I can trade it in. :)

Thats :? me as I thought the biggest size other here was 60GB and my 360 has a 120GB so how is PS3's bigger

Ok, I wasn’t thinking about the elite but now that you mention it, what is the actual point in it? Yes, its hard drive is 2 or 3 times bigger but what’s the point in all that space if you can’t save video files to it? I mean what are you going to have, 120gb of MP3’s and demos?

i have 3GB of MP3, 12GB of Demo's, 2GB of Arcade games,saves & DLC, & 24GB of Marketplace video [95% HD] :p

Yes exactly, thanks for backing up my point. Even with all your MP3s, Demos, Arcade Games, saves and High Def marketplace videos your still only using 41GB.
