Remember the rumoured price cut is due not long after Sonys new financial year starts. - fixed

No doubt choices will show as out of stock once people start ordering again.
#3
I have two ps3's from the previous £199 choices deals, had no problems at all.
#4
Remember that you can only play ps2 games on the 60gb (or 80gb) ones.

I think that that is correct isnt it?

You can only play PS2 games on the old 60GB models not the 40 or 80GB ones. I have a 60Gb but never play any PS1 or PS2 games on it because the games are just so much better on the PS3.

buy this plus a 320Gb hard drive if anyone is worried about the disk space. as for the price cut, still no sign of the price cut people were so sure would happen in march, although i should imagine there will be some good bundles available around easter bank holiday.
#7
Don't think anyone will be playing ps2 games after this.

It is going to be announced very soon in April of the price cut of the PS3. The reason for this, is that Sony wants to be in the bigger market this year.

I still reckon these are refurbishments. If not mentioned somewhere. As they keep coming in and out of stock in short bursts. Strange.

They have had better deals on these before, £199 with gt4 IIRC and £219 for the 80GB version.

You do know that practically any laptop drive will work just fine officially in a ps3 right ?

No point getting anything over a 40gb model in fact buy a 40gb sell the ps3 hard drive and buy a 320 gig or more I would stick to 5400 rpm , 7200 does work but may add some heat.

As long as the drive is 9.55mm thick or less it fits fine and most fit anyway.

Theres guides to transfer to a new hdd it's nothing dodgy doesn't need any flashes or anything it's all done using the official ps3 guide.

Is there any soldering involved, 'cos I am useless with tools (apart from the one I always carry with me)?

no, you just unscrew it and slot in the new hard drive (sata).

No solder and will not effect warrenty as far as I know :)
#28
Yeh, but the screw's are very easy to mess up the heads. You will need a nice soft screwdriver at the right size :)

40gb only comes with basic sisaxis controller not dualshock though.

i ordered one of these which took 4 days to arrive, but from the way its packaged it does look like its been opened/used. no seal, cable ties not used, dust on products. I feel like ive been misled as there no mention on their site it would be opened. Are they allowed to do this?

looks like argos are selling 40gb for only £20 more
