Not sure about this but it appears only to have a 14 day Guarantee:

#8
Does this come with 12m sony warranty? wud it be valid for that?
#9
Still down to the last 36? Not too popular
#10
MMmmmmmm 14 day return is bad!, i looked on the site and they have partners to choicesuk.com that had this offer the other week, unsure how they are parners with them but choices offered free delivery and 12 month warranty.

unsure how to look at this, can it be registered with sony for 12 months or only have the 14 days return with buy it here?

if not buyer beware!

Just a heads up about customer returns, my dad did a plumbing job for a company in Cornwall that repairs ps3 consoles that have been returned. They are currently fixing 5000 units a month! and sometimes it costs up to £300 to get them going again which Sony is happy to pay as they get their profits from the games.

I thought it was xbox 360 that broke alot, but 5000 a month just at this repair centre is an awful lot. My dad said there were stacks and stacks piled up.

(he couldn't secure me one on the cheap though)
#13
these aint repaired they are catalog returns
#14
says customer returns on the website, doesn't say anything about them not being repaired or not, just they are working.
#15
on ebay a 40gb ps3 sold for £235 and also with £20 delivery charge (if it includes the controller i'm going to buy it)
#16
Hmmmmm second hand just doesn't sound good....
#17
I just cannot decide on this one. I am in the market for a PS3... I suppose people would have only had them for around two weeks before returning is this hot mmm..

I don't get why anyone would want to play old games, come on PS1 games are like a decade old :?

Second hand !!! and will probably not have the dual shock controller which will put it up by another £34.98, and if you buy the Gran Turismo 5 version it goes up by around £50 !! that don't add up. cold for me....

what did u expect for the price £205? but i agree the GT5 bundle price difference is ridiculous
also customer returns are like within 14days i think, so i cant be that bad since they have been checked too before resale.
dualshock is around £25 on dvd.co.uk, so £10 (29%) cheaper than your quote:whistling:

keep waiting for santa :santa:, you might get it for £50 who knows:thumbsup:

I want the old model as it has SACD compatibility, which my Denon has decided it can no longer play.

I have just phoned customer service regarding warrantee and controller, they are on a skeleton staff with it being Sunday so the answers were a little cagey! the PS£ should come with 12 month warrantee as all other items they sell do, and if a controller is shown in picture then should also come with one! (but cannot confirm until manager is in Monday morning)

All ps3s come bundled with one controller.

£50 for a demo of a game? "they are having a laugh, ain't they!".

I think if they were fixing 5000 a month at just one repair centre in one country we would have heard about it.

and sometimes it costs up to £300 to get them going again which Sony is happy to pay as they get their profits from the games.
Again, when sony builds them for less than that I can't see it being the case. Especially when Centresoft (Sonys uk distributor) has their official repair partner in the midlands.
#25
This looks to be the same stock which has recently been sold via choicesuk (take a look at their logo under "our partners"). There is a thread on this site regarding, people were very happy with the consoles. Why would it not have a controller?

Absolute cobblers.

Sorry but i dont believe a word of that (aside from that your father may well be a plumber), the figures you give for this centre equates to 1/4 of a million repaired per year. Given it was only released in March 07 and had sold 1 million units by February this year so lets say it continued at that rate that would be 1.5 million units sold.

So that means according to you there is a 1 in 6 failure rate.

As i say absolute cobblers.

I say your maths is complete cobblers.

5000 per month * 12 months = 60,000. This is not a quarter of a million.

I'm pretty sure it costs Sony more than that to make a PS3. They take a big loss on every unit sold in hope you'll buy lots of games, Blu-rays, peripherals etc to make up for it.

still no buyers, anyone phoned to ask further details on it? i havent had no reply by email i sent at 10:22am today, ive just sent another email asking about if they are any signs of usage apart from the box been openedm cable ties removed from wires, finger prints on controller and also scratches, knovks, dints or blemish on the console dobut ill get an answer.

id phone but its a 0844 number, ive looked on sayno to 0870.com but no other number from them.

this is taken from another thread about warranty? when people got the choicesuk deal

I called Sony and unless they are supplied with the original sales receipt you can not transfer the warranty and they treat them as "non warranty" machines. From what I understand you send it in and they then match the name and address on reciept to the registered warranty address and then allow you to transfer it, so if the name and address dont match on reciept they know its 2nd hand

haha you are right my maths is wrong, however one thing is correct and that is my statement about that post being cobblers.

Can't see why anyone would pay £50 extra to get a £19 game, but the bare console is a good deal.

Dodgy maths aside I don't think the 5000 faulty units a month claim is too far fetched. If we take your 1.5milliion PS3 figure and see what 1% of that is (Sony's claimed failure rate) you get 15000 faulty consoles (that would be 938 per month since launch). If you use the more realistic 3-4% failure rate which is common in consumer electronics you get a number of between 45000 and 60000 faulty consoles out of that 1.5million since launch. That's around 2813-3750 per month since launch and assuming they all go faulty at evenly spaced out intervals. It could well be that some months they do hit 5000 faulty units being sent in while the next month they only have say 2500.

I got a catalogue returned PS3 from Choices a couple of months back (it was an even better deal than this £200 for the GT5:Prologue bundle) and it was in perfect working order. Console hadn't even been switched on and the warranty stuff was still sealed.
Your mileage may vary with this site, but sometimes these deals are pretty good.
#36
down to 35, someone finally bought 1.
#37
Not a bad deal but I´m not a fan of preowned/catalog returns goods to be honest.
Got a new PS3 last year around xmas from play.com for 250 pounds...
