PS3 40GB for possible £277.99 @ PC World

Play currently has 40GB PS3s for £279.99. If you do the PC World pricematch, where they will match Play and give 10%, you will get the console price down to only £251.99 roughly.

Unsure how long Play will have the console for £279.99, also unsure if you can pricematch online for a possible 2.5% quidco.

Obviously we all know that the PS3 is inferior to the far superior Xbox 360, so if all the Xbox fans humour the PS3 fans by adding some heat - that'll show them!

Aternatively, be nasty to the original poster, rip holes into his thread, make him become a transexual and move to Mexico.

I'm an idiot. Voted cold.

It's only 10% of the difference, not a further 10% off from my understanding. Do correct me if I'm wrong!

I have no idea what you're all on about.

It'll be £251.99 at PC World if you call in the price match from Play.

I got a Media Player yesterday that was £110 in Dabs, £150 in PC World, so I got the media player for £99 in PC World.

No, if the price at Play is £279.99 and the price at PC World is £299.99 that makes a difference of £20. PC World will give you 10% of the difference back so in this case it's 10% of £20 which equals £2. Thus the actual price you would pay at PC World would be £277.99.

I got scene it? for the 360 in Hull, £29.99 at virgin at the time, pc world had it for £39.99. they matched the 29.99 then took £3 off i.e. 10% of the virgin price, so paid £26.98 i think it was.

Yup, some PC World staff are not the sharpest tools in the box and most probably don't understand the price match policy.......I dare say some customers could rake in some extra discounts if the are fortunate enough to stumble across those individuals :santa:

You have to click on the PC World logo in the top left corner to get the proper front page - they put a splash screen on for you to see when you go to www.pcworld.co.uk for the first time.

"If you find a lower price for the same product and offer, we'll reduce our price by the difference plus 10% – even up to 7 days after purchase.
" - It doesnt say anything about what they take the 10% from.

Just reading the policy again:
If you find a lower price for the same product and offer, we'll reduce our price by the difference plus 10% – even up to 7 days after purchase.

Which reads to me like the bloke I got in the shop was right to give me the £110 "price matched" item for £99.66.

Price is £150.
Price match is £110.
They reduce their price by the difference - which is £40.
New price £110.
Plus 10% = £11.
So £99.

The more you look at it, the plainer it seems.
If it was 10% of the difference, it would surely say: 10% of the difference.

I work at PCWorld (god help me...hate it...) and can confirm that the price match works thus:

We will price match only against specific retailers and online retailers (Amazon, play etc...) - we will match the price then give you 10% of the difference back. Im not the sharpest tool in the box when it comes to math and the system we use to process sales is pretty **** - so if you get an incompetent salesperson at the till im sure it's possible they give you an actual 10% off the item (rather than the 10% of the difference, which it should be!)

HDD on Amazon = £60
HDD at PCWorld = £90

With our price match = £60 - (0.1 * £30) = £57#

edit: Just to clarify... have had 2 managers tell me this - it's 10% of the DIFFERENCE - not the TOTAL. Also, we only price match on places like Amazon/play/ebuyer if they have it in stock, and it must include any postage fees too! With Amazon/Play though that's free so doesnt matter in those cases.

Well that sucks.

I went in to PCWORLD today and they would price match against AMAZON £279.99 and I was cheeky enough to ask for the HDMI cable for free as AMAZON are offering one and they said yes.

The 10% is def only on the difference so £2 off making it £277.99

Ive still not bought one yet....im sure there's gotta be a better price to come in the new year. Hopefully with a game??
