Hmm, it must be cheaper somewhere else. Can someone share as I have just ordered it and if it is cheaper i'd like to cancel.

It's one of the lowest prices but probably being voted cold because it's not really much of an exceptional saving and so not really a 'hot 'deal' by definition. Simply Games have it for £33.89.

Most other places have it around £35.

i'm sure most people are voting cold cuz you can pick it up mint second hand for a few quid less. Which is rediculous. Its obviously hot if no one can beat that price brand new.

Ah I see. Well yeah, probably not a real 'hot deal' then actually. At least I won't have to cancel my order!
#5
Saw it in GAME for £27

Well the argos Sky Xbox package sitting in the top five deals of the day isn't actually a 'Hot Deal' considering GAME, play and Amazon have been charging that price for over a month. Therefore it seems logical that this deal should be voted hot. If it's the best price anywhere, even if only saving a few pounds from the standard value, then it should at least be neutral.

hot deal, can't understand why people voting it cold

Unfortunately the prices can't be compared to either ebay or marketplace prices. Otherwise there would be very few hot deals outside these businesses.

its not really about comparison, just whether people find this deal hot or not :)

£33.91 is this deal,
on averages its about £35 (asda and zavvi both doing this for under £34 + quidco too), so its not much of a saving :) In fact getting this from Zavvi u'll probably be better off (quidco).

Then by your logic this deal should be cold

It is still not cheap enough for me to want to buy it, would only be prepared to pay upto £25 for it new :)

Not voted either way

That Xbox Skyplayer deal is hot because it was once sold for a RRP of £30. Now it's being sold at half price at most places, which is why it's hot.. I'm aware that the RRP for this game is higher than it's selling price, but it's always been around £35-40 at most places so hasn't really been reduced. This is just the lowest of a lot of similar prices.

If the Xbox skyplayer deal stays at the same price and is widely available then pretty soon everyone will adjust and further posts will go cold because there will be a new acceptable standard price, similar to the situation this deal is in now. Once this game drops to about £25 it'll go hot. Once every other retailer follows suit and a lower price becomes standard, it will again cool down.

Essentially genuine hot deals require a combination of a significant saving, an element of exclusivity and good timing.

But it's 2 for £25 at play, hence you can get the skyplayer thing cheaper. It's also been available since January for 15 at Amazon, Game, Play(old price), Gamestation, etc. If a genuine deal requires an element of exclusivity then why is the argos deal hot? It has no element of exclusivity.

Also £14.99 is the standard price now. Hence you're effectively not saving anything and your reasoning is further misplaced.

If we are comparing RRP for theses things then RRP for Assassin's Creed 2 on release was £49.99.

Fair enough the deal isn't supernova hot, but it shouldn't be cold as it represents a saving in money.
