So cooling fan for Ps3 for under £2 bargain! Not sure if store specific or nationwide confirmation would be great. I think it may have been made by Gioteck or swordfish, but I am not sure.

Good luck. :D

Don't think these are online but are available around the country - some stores have them. Got a swordfish one for £1.47 at PC world but currys had them as well. Heat added. ;-

yes. ours is in a tv cupboard and we can't shut the doors while the ps3 is running as it quickly overheats

Don't add heat silly. Keep it cool.

To add to that, I got a swordfish one to for 74p from pc world as it had a red sticker on it last week. Not put it on my ps3 yet as I'm not sure if i trust it. Does anyone know if it would do any harm to an out of warranty 60gig PS3?

PS3's don't need the external fans, they're built and manufactured to handle the heat.

Mrs Mack: Make sure your the vents on your PS3 are clear (Give them about 8" space). Aslong as it has room to breathe, it's absolutely fine.

hopefully it wont do the same as the cooling fans for the 360. don't think the ps3 needs this anyway, mine sure doesn't, it runs cool and silent. i'd never use cooling fans on either of my consoles.
just been reading reviews about the more expensive ps3 cooling fans and most people say they do more harm than good, they are ones that cost 4x as much as this remember so god knows what this cheapo one will do.

The console fans nearly always do more harm than good and void your warranty (if you tell them). The ps3 also has the extended warranty through http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/138534/free-replacement-psp-or-ps3-for-you/showthread.php?t=138534&page=17 and the unfortunately the xbox 360 just officially lost the extended three year warranty (can persuade them to repair free with effort) http://www.destructoid.com/launch-day-xbox-360s-no-longer-under-three-year-warranty-coverage-119903.phtml

There's no point on them. They apparently confuse the PS3 fan systems sensors which tell them the speed they should be at as well.

If your ps3 is overheating there is a problem with it that you should look at. Firstly, make sure the air vents aren't blocked and maybe blow them with compressed air. Although obviously if you keep it enclosed in a cupboard then it will overheat.

If you have a 40gb there is a 'fan trick' that you can do - see youtube - which basically whirs the fans up like a hoover at the start and blows out all the dust. Have done it myself and it does actually work, unfortunately I did it next to my screen which was covered in the dust it blew out.

I wouldnt risk it - the ps3 is proved to have adequte cooling itself and adding another fan may cause problems.

Utter waste of money

correct. will do more harm than good.

Ergo this deal is cold. You might say 'but this is cheap' but when what you actually want to do is spend £0 on a product like this, you are spending £2 over! :)

I looked into these a while back as my ps3 was overheating in an enclosed space. The overwhelming verdict on various ps3 forums was that they are not good for your console. You are much better off ensuring the side and rear vents have ~5cm of free air, and the unit itself is not shut in (for example with doors on the front of your tv unit).

exactly, so NEVER stand your PS3 console on its side unless its on an official stand
