Good game would wait for the full game if your not a normal fan.

Might as well wait for the full game in march imho. this is just a tech demo basically.
#4
Hot, but not the best game, still good thou
#5
Its good but i always think unless your using a steering wheel with this game it just doesn't feel responsive enough. Saying that for £12.91 it's worth getting and this game is still £12 in Blockbuster (Pre-owned) or 2 for £18. GTA IV is still available in this deal. so for a couple of quid extra you can get 2 games.

I vote Hot though incase Blockbuster have sold out in your area

Blockbusters (nuneaton) 14.99 new, got my son one yesterday. Just in case you don't want to wait the 2-4 weeks.

Excellent price, my son loves it.

Sorry to be ignorant, what is the full game which is out in March?
#9
^^ The full Gran Turismo will be out in March. This thread is for the Prologue, it has fewer cars/tracks etc than the full game will contain.

I know in previous editions if you completed the licenses etc on the prologue they would transfer straight into the full game and you would get some bonus money to buy your first car! Might be worth £12 or not depending on if you're a fan!
#10
Although the full game has been put back ever since the ps3 came out! So those waiting for march- i wouldn't get your hopes up too soon.

Gran Turismo 5 will definety not be released in march. it will be lucky if its even out this year.
the producer has said it may be released in 2010
but im sure it will be worth the wait

March 2010, most likely. Towards the end of this year, and possibly into next year, for sure.

The development team test drives all the cars in the game to create virtual representations true-to-form (so they will have us believe), so whenever a new model is introduced (like the winner of the "Best In Show" award [JR Rocha] for the 2008 Infiniti G37, in the Gran Turismo Awards SEMA show Las Vegas last November) it takes months of "man" time with each physical car & this has delayed the release date for almost a year.

I like driving games but "Gran Turismo 5 Pro-longed" bored me enough to offer it for sale thereafter (and I have had no takers!). I found it way too slow.

Granted the first batch of vehicles you can afford are not particularly tarmac-tearaways but I prefer the faster paced "Ridge Racer 7", or "Race Driver GRID" (using the "Ego" game engine, an evolved version of the "Neon" engine previously in the Codemasters forerunning title "Colin McRae: DIRT" that I didn't find too engaging either).

The rendering of the vehicles I have seen in "Gran Turismo 5 Prologue" is very true to the "in-the-metal" originals [many of which I have been lucky to own and/or drive!] but if I wanted this much realism then I may as well just get in one of my own vehicles & drive around for real (cost of fuel, pending).

My favourite titles on the PS3 though are "Burnout Paradise" (spectacular crashes & real attention to detail in ancillary scenery. The ability to drop-in to online games almost instantaneously is a particularly good feature that I hope is carried forward and used as a benchmark for future titles, not only by this developer but by their competitors too), and "Midnight Club: Los Angeles" (interesting diversion from the 'norm' with a semi-story mode & after the first few races where the console-controlled drivers let you win, it has a decent learning curve to make you get really annoyed you lost a race but motivated enough to keep trying).

There are other very enjoyable "racers" on the PS3 at present. However, I didn't really rate "SEGA Rally" as I thought the graphics were a bit of a let-down [more like a PS2 presentation, than what I would expect of a PS3 title]... and I have yet to try my previously purchased "Stuntman: Ignition". I may well try "Ferrari Challenge" or the soon-to-be-released "Supercar Challenge" [that will feature the downloadable content that was made but could not be released for "Ferrari Challenge" due to copyright issues!] soon, but I have far too much to keep me occupied as it is.

One driving title to stay clear of, mind you... "Full Auto 2: Battlelines".

With such competition available now & expected in the next year or so, I probably will just ignore "Gran Turismo 5" completely.

fp.

EDIT:
A link to the history of the Gran Turismo series I have typed-up previously, if you are interested.

Anyway, this deal is now on, if you like it for this price, take it... If you want to wait for the "full" version, you're welcome :-)

yeah i heard it takes the developers for GT5 6 months to complete each car model. and if theres hundreds of cars....damn lol
#16
I was dissapointed when I played this game on my mates console. I'd advise waiting until the proper version is out.
#17
Good game, good price.

I have played grid, burnout, forza, pgr etc. While GT5P is a little clinical in presentation, it is a rewarding drive. pro physics, no assists, manual trans, gtr r35 is a great drive.

That said, it lacks damage, factors such as fuel, engine failures etc. Graphically nothing can touch it. Looking forward to the full release in 2010.

There is rumoured to be a DLC (spec IV) later this year. No idea what it will contain perhaps the Nurburgring. Then this title is totally worth it.

fair enough it looks excellent graphically, but you are paying for a glorified demo here. Sony are trying to milk as much out of this "cash cow" as they can imo. Not worth the money. Make it a free online downloadable demo

Some may label it a demo, however with 70+ cars, 6 tracks (12 different layouts), 16 player online, tuning options etc etc coupled with the fact it scores 83% on metacritic it is far far more than that.....

Good price, but I got mine from Woollies closing down sale for £10.80

Heat added still!

Good game?

Its awful! Sold mine within a few days. This comparison with a proper racing game is hilarious!

GT5 vs GRID !

This is a great game for what it is - but it is a glorified demo.

a comparison between gameplay footage of a real racing game, vs FMV footage of an arcade game? yeah, jeez, i wonder why they don't seem the same...

If you like racing, GT5p is a good game - though it will leave you feeling slightly shortchanged, especially compared to the rest of the GT franchise. If you like crashing, knock yourself out with Grid. The full version of GT5 is gonna be released for xmas 2009 at the very earliest, more likely first quarter of 2010. After this kind of wait, it's gonna have to be superhumanly good to satisfy - but then the same happened with GT4, and frankly, i think it's still the best driving game on the market.

It was not all fmv it did show in car view of grid briefly.

Maybe better to compare to Forza 2 in a way.

The GT P is worth £9.99 when it drops to that.

Great game .. only downside is no car damage

Totally pointless comparing those two games!

yeah, I know. One is superb and the other is just plain dull (like a sunday afternoon drive in the country) ;-)

I'd rather play Burnout than Grid. They have about as much in common.

Seriously racers and sim enthusiasts worship Gran Turismo. Prologue has sold over 3 million copies at will be getting another update spec III soon.

I found plenty of challenges and cars to own and to really get the most from it the game deserves a steering wheel.
#30
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will be released in Platinum Edition soon, so I don't think so, that the "full" Gran Turismo 5 will be released in March or earlier than in winter 2009...
#31
The only reason "March" got mentioned was because March 2007. Thats the European release of both the PS3 and GT Concept Demo thats still free on PSN. People don't read anything properly and think they're all expects.

i dont agree when people say its a "glorified demo"
this game has more in it than a lot of games
well worth the money

:w00t:

The PS3 console was released in Japan on 11 November 11 2006, closely followed by North America six days later. The European release date was 23 March 2007.

I expect that the Gran Turismo development team (at Polyphony Digital), as they are based in Japan, will not be aiming about lining-up the date of the full version of the next release to coincide with the anniversary month of availability of the PS3 within the European region.

But I may be wrong. I'm certainly no expert regarding "Gran Turismo".

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Vice President, James Armstrong, has been quoted in an interview with "El Financiero" (newspaper/web site based in Spain) as saying the next title will be available by Christmas 2009.

The "Gran Turismo" series designer, Kazunori Yamauchi, has gone on record saying that the product will not ship until 2010 (if not later).

Both parties may be correct, of course. A pre-release Playable Demo may we be released to the PlayStation Store this year, and the full product may follow thereafter.

fp.
