Hi,

I'm admittedly taking a bit of a "risk" (so to speak) with this deal, as I usually know a really good deal when I see one, whereas I have absolutely no idea whether this is going to get hot or be absolutely freezing... but we'll soon find out!

Personally, for the price, I think it's a good little item - and a cheaper alternative to the Logitech steering wheels.

Here's the sales pitch for this item taken from the website:

* Enhances gameplay with all driving games that support SIXAXIS control
* Fully compatible with the SIXAXIS and DUALSHOCK3 Wireless Controllers
* Allows full access to all Wireless Controller buttons and functions
* Chrome effect finish with soft rubber grips adding extra comfort to gameplay

It's listed at £14.99 with most places, and £13 at ShopTo, but it's only £11.95 at MyMemory.

The wheel was released on June 19th.

Sorted

I have always forgotten to do that when submitting a deal, as I put it in the price bit and think that's it, all done

If it included the controller then it would be hot but it's just a wheel shaped piece of plastic for £12. Bit of a gimmick IMO.

Some have said that it's a rip-off of Nintendo's Mario Kart wheel, I've played that though and it's really fun, so that was my thinking behind buying this for the PS3.

And the build quality is meant to be great. It's not just plastic, it's chrome and proper rubber grips, so it should add some fun to driving games and should at least provide a little more realism over using a normal controller.

It says "chrome effect" which sounds like it's plastic with a mirror coating. I haven't voted hot or cold btw.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but most PS3 games don't rely on turning the controller for directional control like the wiimote does, so what it the point of this? Sure you put the PS3 controller in a wheel shaped receptacle, but then arent you still just pressing the buttons or moving the stick around as normal.

I don't geddit!

I have used this with Ridge Racer 7 and Burnout Paradise.
In short, it's a complete waste of time and money.

Ridge Racer does allow you to steer the car using SIXAXIS's motion sensitivity, however the constantl-drifting style of the game means that it's next to impossible to race with any success.

Burnout has pretty rubbish SIXAXIS motion support. All it allows you to do is move the camera whilst racing by tilting the controller.

It may be the fault of the game developers, but this still renders the piece of plastic useless and annoying.

Pros:
- makes your controller look like a steering wheel

Cons:
- very plasticy
- quite uncomfortable to hold
- few games support using SIXAXIS like this
- expensive for a piece of plastic
- generally gets in the way

Sixaxis wasn't really all that great hence Dual Shock 3 came in. xD
