Much as I'm an Xbox fanboy if you want to go over to the dark side it is a good deal especially if you've had your 360 for a year and a half already.
#2
Oh hang on Halo 3 is out in a few months.

:?

If you bought a 360 at all then this is what you've been waiting for.

Why on earth would you get rid of your Xbox 360 when it's the only console you can play this lot on, in the coming months. :w00t:

Mass Effect
Overlord
Bioshock
Flatout: Ultimate Carnage
Halo 3
Ace Combat VI
Blue Dragon
Splinter Cell: Conviction

also of course you've got:- The Darkness, Assassins Creed, Virtua Fighter 5, Devil May Cry 4, Grand Theft Auto IV, Half Life - The Orange Set..and a lot LOT more!

and enjoy Live arcade titles like, Speedball 2, Bomberman Live, Prince of Persia - Classic (available tomorrow) , Sensible Soccer, Wing Commander, Tomb Raider anniversary etc..

then...the Xbox 360 Video Marketplace starting in the Autumn. :-D

Basically, if you really can't wait for the inevitable PS3 price drop then by all means get yourself a Playstation, but IMO you would be crazy to do it at the expense of an Xbox 360. :o

as much as i love Rockstar, i cannot believe they are putting GTA IV on the 360. I wish it was PS3 exclusive.....

Oh well, we have the last laugh being PS3 owners...

Xbox 360 creates "limitations" for GTA IV

Apparently the lack of a built-in Blu-ray or HD-DVD drive in the Xbox 360 means that the year and a half old console is already starting to feel growing pains. In an interview with Official PlayStation Magazine, Rockstar creative VP Dan Houser was asked, "On PS3 you've got a guarantee that every machine is going to have a hard-drive and, with Blu-ray, you've got plenty of storage, whereas on Xbox 360 there's no guarantee of a hard-drive and you're working with the DVD format. Does that create limitations?" His answer? "Yep."

This souds like an excellet deal. Don't play on my 360 much (never got used to the control pad) and it's just sitting there gatherig dust... and with the XBox 360 Elite due for release soon it might be a great idea to get that later on if I want it.

(I know... why buy the Elite when I never played with the original 360... I just like to have the option!)

Rockstar have also said that both version will be comparable.

Meaning they are working within the limitations of both consoles, and the end product will be the same on both consoles.

No need to make yourself feel better about the PS3 purchase. Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

Not a good deal. The PS3 is VERY over priced and not impressive so far.

Firstly, the price will drop soon...so please just wait for a bit if u r so impatient.
Secondly, what do u expect from PS3 in its first year? The graphics will improve, more games will be released, more features will be unveiled.I bet you anything, next year PS3 will dominate the console market.
And on last note, bargainboy, almost all the games you have listed are going to be released on PS3.

Blue Dragon (Jap version) is on 3 discs so it's not really a problem, just Rockstar making excuses

You're points are null and void. We're talking here and now, not some future time, therefore this is not a 'hot deal' IMHO

Yawwwwn. There are 'limitations', if by 'limitations' you mean a severe price difference.

Of course, an official magazine isn't going to rubbish the console it is writing about. Having more space is always nice, but when the previous GTA games barely half-filled a DVD, it's not going to make a difference what format it's on, especially not with 9.4GB dual layer DVDs.

But then, I suppose you have to justify your PS3 purchase somehow. £424.99? :w00t:

I have the last laugh, what with hundreds of 360 games having been released, and about ten on the PS3, oh, and I own multiple next gen consoles (as in, three 360s, two PS3s and two Wiis), what's the point in limiting yourself?

No he makes a good point, disc formats aside, the lack of a guaranteed hard drive in every console means they cannot utilise it to its full advantage, I feel MS dropped the ball here and the PS3 is suffering from this problem just like the original XBOX did.

And this is coming from an Xbox360 fanboy but I am not so blinded by my fanboyism that I don't recognise a bad point when I see it.

YOU ARE ALL MISSING THE POINT HERE !!!

Is this offer a hot deal yes or no ?? Forget the pros and cons of wether you wan't to own it. This is for people who are looking for this deal.

Check the economics.

Boots do an Xbox360 Premium on it's own for £230new.
2nd hand Xbox Premium with a game is gonna go for say £170delivered max.

PS3 new on it's own costs say £300 ??

Deal = £199 + (£160worth of console) = £359 -(minus) hassle of selling current 360console.

I would say that is £59 worth of convienience I would rather not pay for.

Warm at best really ....

Of course they can, Oblivion 360 cached for those who had a HD and didn't for those who never. It's not difficult to add code to detect wether a HD is present as so act accordingly. By the way I'm not a fanboy I have both.

Why not be like me and buy all 3 consoles?! Then you've got the best of all worlds...

The best thing I've played on the PS3? God of war 2, which is a PS2 game.

Wii, fun in small doses.

360? Kicks ass. So many good games out now and in the future. Easily the console I use the most. Been using it pretty much every day since launch and it hasn't crapped out on me once.

The deal? It's OK. Suppose you could get one of the many Xbox LIVE! banned consoles on ebay and take that in to trade...
#23
Why is this even a debate??
It's obvious the PS3 has been beaten already. Sony concentrated too much on raw power and not enough on innovation and then tried to cover their backs by blatantly copying bits and bobs from Nintendo and Microsoft.

I know competition breeds innovation and companies are copying each other all the time but for the sake of this argument it just goes to show how much better the 360 and Wii were than the PS3 from the start.

In terms of current sales so far it goes like this:

1. Wii
2. 360
3. PS3

and in my opinion that's not going to change much. It just goes to show how far Microsoft have come now because even the older generation will say "My son's off to play with his xbox thingy" even if it's not an xbox!! The same way they used to call everything a playstation.

In films and the mass media if referring to a video game console it will always be the word 'xbox' rather than 'playstation'.

If you don't believe me watch out for it...it's true!! lol

who the hell would do that? Xbox 360 is THE best next gen console

I've heard it happen a couple of times, not many, but most still refer to it as a PlayStation.

Oh, and your sales 'statistics' are wrong, it's 360, then Wii then PS3. The 360 has sold twice as many as the Wii.

Well yes, because of an 18 month headstart.

Sales right now are in that order.
